new Outdoor Opinel

Not only would I be interested in a gift set of each color, but a non-serrated variant as well.

The non serrated blade may be considered in the future (not near) if Opinel receive a lot of requests for it (this is just my opinion, not the one of Opinel).
Not sure about the gift set however.. Keep in mind that people at Opinel will read this post/discussion... they read, listen and care for their customers more then most people would think such business would.

Opinels are already hard to get in Australia, knowing my luck these won't even get let in the border! I WANT ONE ill just grind the serrations off, easy.

I couldn't help myself - I love my little opinel so much [which I did actually get from the source listed] that I had to have one of these, and pre-ordered one.

That beng said, I'm not a huge fan of serrations on pocket knives, so if they came out with a non-serrated version, I'd love it even more and order at least one, if not three - maybe even an all four color set!

Thanks for the heads up!

look's like a winner!
i sure do hope that they have the sense to ensure that the double safety ring "VIROBLOC" is now stainless...
seeing that it's meant 4 aqua environments?

The whistle is a nifty extra. I can see this becoming a popular boy scout / general public outdoor folder.
It also doesn't look tactical, it looks like something from an outdoor gear shop. This can only increase its appeal to a wider non-knife audience.
I don't expect the one hand operation to yield a quickly flicking opening, but it can be practical.
Yes, plain blade would be ideal.
I love my many Opinels, and I am eager to try one of these.

Looking at the closed knife, it is obvious that it is not really a one-hand opening knife.
So I read a bit more, and it seems that the hole is for unshackling those rings with cords on sails ships (sorry, I lack the correct English vocabulary here).
All in all, mightily interesting.

I still think it'll make one-handing it easier. It's just not like a thumb hole on a normal knife. Hold it tip up by the hole, then push the handle off the blade and down. I do that with my regular No.8.

I love the traditional Opinels and own them in a plethora of shapes, sizes, woods.

This just seems to be a natural stage in the need to change with the times and demands and should be a very successful line extension imho.

Where are the Twistmasters now? :D

The factory and tooling were lost in a massive fire?

Anyway, I can't wait for the variations on the new design. This one is obviously a watersporting knife, an actual outdoors design could look completely different. 2 up to 6 would make great whistles, 9 to 12 would be perfect for containing a magnesium rod.

This is just great! I finally get my knife-buying habit under control and THIS happens. Oh well an Opinel freak's gotta do what an Opinel freak's gotta do...
