New/Recent Hinderer Scores Thread...a place to share and comment.

The "pond scum" scales were kind of an aberration. I think that Halpern Titanium had some sheets of this two color G-10 that nobody wanted. Hinderer Knives said "what the heck, we'll try it!". I've never seen it before or since on anybody's website. So the chances of any more being produced..... kinda slim.

Noooooo! If that's the case, missing a Gen 2 w/ pond scales the other day by a min or two really hurts..

Not my first (and certainly not my last) XM, but I just received one that i will always consider special and will never willingly part with - simply a production, Gen 4, 3.5" spanto flipper in DFE.

It's special, to me, because of Rick's considerate policy of allowing a direct order. I only wish I had discovered his knives sooner and could have taken one on previous deployments, this would have definitely been the go-to folder.

In any case, it will be with me for tonight's 12-hr watch - wish I could snap a pic of it there but can't have a camera... I guess some lube and flipping will be in order (wait, what?!) :D

Kind of excited, so please bear with me as I geek out a bit:

The dreaded 3-day (well 4-5 to AK) wait... (I sent Rob an email last Friday and got a reply that day from Rick letting me know that it would ship on Monday!)

My first Hinderer box, will be the only knife box I have yet to save. Now, I just need to get one that has Rick's signature on it...

So snug, kinda like I was in bed except I wanted to be up to greet USPS since I was expecting to have to sign (nope, rang doorbell and left on step)...

Perfect finish and color for all of the dusty s**tholes we seem to frequent..

With my also newly acquired bronze ano and BB XMs. Now just need a blue ano, a SB, a black DLC, a tan DLC, oh I guess each of those in spanto, slicer, wharncliff, recurve.. Uh oh, I think I have a problem

And w/ the 3".

I got my first XM on 14 Jul. I need to slow my roll so I can set aside some play money in case a custom pops up.. Unfortunately, my OCD is flaring up - the 2.5:1 scale to knife ratio is killing me - I NEED one knife per scale dammit!

Last time I saw (Folded) a Flag like that it was a very sad time ..... Nice Pics of the Knives, based on scale choice, don't drop it in the sand.

I first met Mike on the School Bus.... it was 1967 (I was in 1st grade) had my Super Man Lunch Box w/Thermos stocked with the obligatory PBJ, Tastycake, napkin and apple.
Mike says, "Hey, You know ..... Santa Claus is really your Dad and the Tooth Fairy is Mom.... HaaaaaaHaaaaaaHaaaaa (he laughed)
I cried.
This is sort of like that.

Yeah emailed Rob today and he confirmed, material is gone to make pond. Doesn't exist anymore. Now I really wish I had grabbed one of the few that had popped up over the last few months.

Nice knives AZ2AK (Shane). FDE is complimented well with anodized standoffs. And I bet the new brass, etc. would look nice too.

Now onto Pond Scum...wish I had purchased several when they were available. Kinda like textured Ti...always wish I had purchased extras.

Just got this smooth cf scale for my 18. I use lens cleaner and the best automotive wax i could find like Modifiedz suggested and here is the result. The 3D effect on this scale is incredible! I wish I could capture it in a picture.

Having been stationed in Alaska sir let me extend my thanks for your continued service to our freedom!! Sadly I was stationed at Elmendorf when the AWACs crashed and when the ALASCOM commander crashed his plane....truly sad times. I have knives with the titanium frag, the smooth cf and the textured cf.....look very similar to yours!! Enjoy my friend....you've earned the privelage!

Quick question.....does the car wax make the smooth cf scale too slippery to hold?? Thanks.....

Nope. It's not too slippery at all. I just buffed it really well with a microfiber cloth after it hazed. I strongly suggest using the car headlight cleaner first as well. It makes a huge difference!!!

I was just thinking that about blue-black. When they recently became available again on the RHK website I didn't think too much of it since I already have one. Then a few days later I got to thinking that mine is more blue and I wouldn't mind getting one that's more black so I went to buy a couple and, yup, they're out of stock again...

Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for your service as well. I consider it a privilege to be able to do my job.

In a ground assignment now, but I was an AWACS crew-dog for most of my career - we pay a visit to Yukla 27 every Sep and tip one back to the fellas.

Not the best pics but not my worst. Thank you to Rick and Rob and all the fine folks at Hinderer Knives. Love the Steel flame accessories, thanks to Derrick and Leonard.
