New run of 48 Weasels, Hawthornes, DJ's, and IT's!

Nice array, but it looks like you missing a burlap.
Don't mind us, we just enable.

You just had to bring that up! Now I gotta have one!

Wow really nice, too bad your also missing the collector knives ebony SFO, sweet pickle, lonestar damascus, and lonestar deck wood non damascus... you really need those too.

Just messing around.. great collection! Thanks for the picture. It's nice to see almost all of them together.

Quick question for all of you. I got my hands on a couple of the Northwoods Hawthorns, kinda blind bought them on KSF in the frenzy. When I got them, a Red Linen Micarta Clip and a OD Green Linen Micarta Wharcliffe, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the OD green was a bare end, is the OD Green Hawthorn the only bare end of the run?

Just received my RBB and couldn't resist giving it a little improvement. Its a fine knife but needed some more dye - I'm very happy with the colour

Very Nice! Do you have any before photos? Would love to see the differences.

Yes sir the OD was the only bare end. I also scored one of the OD Green in clip point and it is bare end but all of my other variations are capped.

Nice photo, 007hunter! Nice grain in that wood as well.
Thanks GE Jr. I've been brainstorming different photo backgrounds and tried this one on my cooking stone that I use in oven. It almost looks like I photo-shopped in some sort of lava but it's actually just regular photo cropped. I love how the grain turned out on these African Blackwood IT's. I have several GEC in African Blackwood that are basically pure black but I prefer the grain showing through on these.

Camillus, that looks awesome! Looking at the before pic of the knife, I'm sorta surprised that one even made it out the door.

It was exactly what I wanted as I was always going to dye it, and I wanted one with nice even spread of brown patches.

So the process is the normal RIT dye method discussed on these forums.
Using golden yellow RIT powder dye.

Its boiled on the stove and the knife is suspended by its blades in the pot for about 3 minutes. Then washed in clean hot water followed by oil. The golden yellow is a little dark for banana so I tried to limit the time. Any longer and it would have started to turn too gold. As it is there are lighter areas that keep it looking banana.

An important trick is to try and avoid pitting on the metal (mainly the backspings) by moving the knife around and also regularly wiping away any tarnish spots as they appear on the metal with a paper towel. I think the tarnish is caused by specks of undissolved dye.

In my experience bone always seems to cope well with dyeing - i have never seen it shrink or crack- although it did start to discolor a little from the heat with whitish blotches apearing. This discolouration faded as it cooled.
