New run of 48 Weasels, Hawthornes, DJ's, and IT's!

With regard to F&F, how is the half stop flush on yours. I noticed John said his was good. This nanner of mine stands about a 16th proud in the half stop position on both blades. Everything else is perfect.
Just wanted to weigh in on this.
Mine is perfect aside from half stop which the springs do sit slightly proud, about the same as yours.
---
miltmaldo miltmaldo I would keep the brown one. I don't know if yours is the same, but my brown tones show more character than the yellows, and I like the more natural look.
(Or trade me for mine, I'd even pay your shipping, lol)

That being said, how pale is your yellow one? It almost looks like banana baby food.
:D

Nice knives, both of them.

Hey Pokerface I do believe you may be right! Good eye you got there! My knife's a centerfold....

Just checked mine out; both blades are a bit proud. It doesn't bother me at all. Absolutely perfect every other way + I've never been bold enough to cut anything at half stop. :D

FWIW, I had to file down the kick on the wharnie on my older AB...this Rotten Banana did not need it.

Thanks for responding NJBillK NJBillK and Pokerface Pokerface . I agree the proud half stop matters not. The African blackwoods I've seen on here so far are classic an beautiful. Was hoping they would be super dark and most of em seem to be. Have one enroute.

The few African Blackwoods I've seen so far look beautiful! Very classy.
Rotten Banana Bone seems hit or miss. A couple look like maybe the handles should not have made it through qc and onto a knife, or maybe just been better matched. I dunno, I'm probably in the minority there, as most posters seem to like what they received, which is all that matters.
I picked up one in stag that I'll post pics of later. I did think it was harder on this run to find well-matched handles with the stag. Maybe I'm getting way too picky in my old age!

It might just be my OCD speaking, but I noticed that every improved trapper shown has the spine of the Wharncliffe proud of the spine of the clip.

Now, I am not talking about the needed clearance for the nail nick, but behind the swedges. The full width section.

I have been fighting the idea of filing the kick to get them to line up. It wouldn't take much and there will plenty of room for the nail nick without risking the wharncliffe tip contacting the spring.

Love both my Bloodwood & Blackwood Improved, but also would have loved to get any one of the RB's that I've seen here, but by the time I pondered making a reservation and getting back they were locked. Oh well, I'm blessed with what I have.

Great pic! Nice RBB too!

Well ya win some, ya lose some. I was full of excitement yesterday when the tube arrived. Was quickly brought to a screeching halt. I've never seen a white banana before. Oh well. The growing pains of GEC collecting. The fit and finish and walk and talk are exceptional. The blade sharpness is great. Not gonna lie I am a little disappointed with the dye job, but that was yesterday and I'm moving on. :)

I know the feeling. I was hoping for 'Black' Blackwood. I do like it, just wish it was black like the first run.
Your RBB is still very cool!

Ramrodmb Ramrodmb - Awesome bunch of 48s. I love your Rotten Banana
Fodderwing Fodderwing - Ditto on the banana. That is a beauty.
@Shock_ - I'm in the same boat as you, I'm afraid. I think I posted a couple pages back that there should be some really cool variation in this run of Rottens. There certainly is that. Mine with the pale yellow, white bone showing, and splotchy oil spots is a little busy and messy for my taste. That said, it is unique, and I'll probably come to appreciate for that. Also, apart from the dye job, its mechanically perfect. A really nice knife.

Speaking of which, I love the African Blackwood SFO. It's all class with the houndstooth shield and satin blades.

Thanks @huelsdonk ! You got 2 very nice specimens there too!
Real nice RBB!

Here's some slightly better and brighter pics of what I have. Next to my AB from the previous run.

I love all the RBB again this time. Yours is very cool too!
But that Blackwood!!! That is what Blackwood should look like!!

Heres a closer look at mine! Very happy with both!

I guess I am amongst the minority here, but I prefer the Browns and color variations in the AB. (Especially yours Ramrodmb Ramrodmb ).

I see it as a Dark colored hybrid of Cocobolo and Desert Ironwood.

I've seen a few pictures of your knife on IG. Words can't explain those covers... Amazing! If you ever part with that first dibs please!
Thanks! I do love my blue mammoth. You might have to get in line to get this one but then again I doubt it will ever leave me. I might be homeless in a cardboard box but I'll still have my mammoth knives. It's good to have priorities. ;)

Really thinking of ordering a blackwood IT. Is the wood in this run actually black like runs in the past or more brown? Lately, my ebonies have been showing up lighter and lighter. Is this the case with the african blackwood too? Reallh hoping they are draker than what some pics show.

My AB IT can look black depending on the light, but really is very dark brown, hope this helps

My African Blackwood was light brown not my preference but it does have a nice grain to it . F&F wise it's as good as it gets .

That African Blackwood! I was on the fence with this one - until seeing some pics posted here. Ramrodmb Ramrodmb - I like the dark/less dark grain!

Must be fairly consistent for the blackwood on this run... mine is nicely figured and am very happy with the color... just enough brown to bring out the grain.

I gotta say that blue mammoth is unbelievable. Almost looks like a pic of the universe.... constellations....galaxies...etc... If I had a knife like that I could live in a box..... or at least in a van down by the river....:D
