New run of 54s

I was wondering when someone was going to post an ez open mod on one of those DLTs. They're begging for it.

That's a beauty, Brett, I was also unable to resist. The combo of features on this knife are a real home run.

Thanks buddy. I was really torn over these but the uniqueness sold me. I figured it may be a while before this shield and blackwood was used again. It goes against my knife philosophy but ya gotta break the rules occasionally. :D

Got my cougar claw in today. It's going to have to grow on me a little since I have a big jack in ebony from a few years ago which I love.

Apparently DLT had a couple of 54 SFO's left over that popped up. I snagged one of the Snakewoods, I saw an Appaloosa bone also, looked nice.
bummer, I would have snagged a Appaloosa bone had I known.
We have a factory second Appaloosa here at DLT if you're still looking.

I was right in thinking the Cougar Claw wouldn't overtake my Ebony as my favorite 54. I was disappointed in missing the Appaloosa Smooth Bone from the instant I saw a picture.

There aren't enough exclamation points to communicate how happy I am that DLT was able to hook me up wth a factory second!!!

The blade is barely off-center but it's not any more than normal and it's not even close to rubbing so, yes!

It needs a sharpening and I'm moving this month so I don't want to breakout the WE until I move. I'm not carrying it yet but I haven't been able to put it down when at home.

Due to my mind being occupied with work, I almost missed out on my pre-order... I am grateful that I checked in here and reminded myself that I had an invoice to pay on. Just received this one in the mail, she's a pretty not-so-little thing and I am happy that I scooped it up.

The red jigged bone is everything I had hoped it would be, though there are some very visible grind marks on the surface, not sure if that is normal or not. Seems somewhat odd... Not a deal breaker, by any means, as I intend for it to be a user like all of my knives. I think you can make out the marks in the pics.

The pull is pretty stout, especially beyond the half stop. After the half stop when opening, it almost seems that it is a bit "soft" when it is fully opened. It doesn't have that rather satisfying snap that my Bullnose has after the half stop. It also feels a tad "squishy" when closing it, again after the half stop. I am going to oil and work the joint a bit and see if that helps any. I know it helped recover a little bit of snap with my 2016 Forum knife.

Other than the grind marks on the bone, it seems the finish is superb, the oak shield is just awesome, and the light weight makes it nice and nimble for such a large frame. I am looking forward to having this one in the pocket frequently.

Dylan,

WOW what a beauty! That single spear and that bone are all just awesome. Very nice! I like the shield too. I have a stag NF 54 with full sized spear and clip points. It's a big knife and up to any reasonable task.

Thank you! She is quite the stunner, for sure. I am happy to have been able to scoop one up and am certainly looking forward to putting it to work. In the meantime, I am enjoying the pristine etch and shiny blade, knowing that won't last long...

Ordered one tonight along with a 48.

Randy, I hope you are happy with your pick, what handle material did you end up scooping up?
