New Run of No. 15s (Beer Scout and Otherwise)

Had to show it off! Really pleased by this one

Very nice Will. I think I like the CL better than the BS for the shieldless covers and no bail. Looks like you got a nice one with the dye.

Nice one Will. I usually carry a Barlow or stockman, but since I got the Crown Lifter & later the Beer Scout, I find myself throwing one of those in my left pocket, too. I like the sheepsfoot blade & the secondary comes in useful almost every day for light prying, tightening a screw here & there, or maybe even popping the top on a beer. (I never did like those twist-off tops on beer bottles. It just don't seem right.:))

Thank you Bob and Ironbut I do prefer it for the lack of bail and the simplicity of not having a shield. The jigging looks great and the domed pins enhance the whole thing. Yes, screw top beer is a travesty, better than cans though:barf: but you can see the driver to prise up the ring-pulls too.:D

"How do you like the finish/feel of the maroon micarta?
I'm thinking of picking one up"

Andy- The maroon micarta Beer Scout is nice and smooth. I have heard many people say it is one of their top Beer Scout cover options.
I believe you will be happy if you decide to pursue one from this current line.

Well, after reading so much about GEC 15s and seeing all of the lovely pictures of them here, I finally took the plunge. I opted to get the Crown Lifter in gabon ebony. I'm quite pleasantly surprised with it. The wood isn't a solid black color and has subtle color variations. The pulls are just right for me, too. I thought about getting the Beer Scout instead but wasn't thrilled about the bail and figured that a knife that said Beer Scout on it wasn't too fitting for someone such as myself (I have 10 years sobriety in AA). [emoji5] No doubt I will enjoy opening Mexican Coke bottles with it. I'm quite pleased with this knife overall. Fit and finish is excellent. I think I have caught the GEC bug! Love them!

Nice Alex: It is a bug. Good choice and welcome from another recent GEC fanatic.

Thank you! I currently only own four GEC knives, but I'm sure that my modest collection will grow in time. Thankfully I'm not interested in all of the patterns, only a select few! I arrived to the scene too late to get a Pemberton or Conductor, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for them on the secondary market. And I'm sure that new models will catch my eye.

Just got this in a trade with a member on the forum. Wow great knife. The oak covers are great on this one. Glad I made the trade as I have been eyeballing them.
