New show - Human Weapon

I forgot to catch the last couple of episodes. I've only seen the Muay Thai and Escrima ones so far. I'm liking the show so far, my only minor gripe being that some ol' generic "reality TV" music that they use for the soundtrack most of the time.

I've enjoyed this show so far, especially the escrima and karate episodes.

I've enjoyed it also. I've seen the Muay Thai, Eskrima, and Savate shows. While the MMA guy is obviously the more skilled fighter, it's been eye-opening to see what the big, bald guy can do. He's a monster. It's amazing how he can use his power to overwhelm his opponents.

I really want to see him go up against someone like Danny. I'd guess they are about the same size with Danny having a small weight edge, but also more skills. Big is good, big with skills is better.:D

The trick is to fight like you're smaller. Use every dirty trick in the book.
I don't care if I win or lose, I just dont want to get hurt.
You know what I mean?
It is easy to get hurt, even when you are just training. Who knows what injuries these actors may have already sustained just making a TV show?
I heard Jackie Chan had broken every bone in his body twice and he was just doing movie stuntfighting..

they had a show over here called 'last man standing', which i watched yesterday (it was unfortunately the last one in the series) on sky.

they had a number of survivors of the earlier shows wrestle in a local somali non-professional but deadly serious tourney, after two weeks training by a local coach. there were three in the heavy weight class that had to be whittled down to two, the favoured (largest) guy lost, but the winner hurt his knee & couldn't continue so the big guy wrestled the local along with the other heavy. the blonde haired blue eyed light weight won his bout against a local champ, all the others lost, the little guy won & became the 'last man standing'. he also was the one who had followed local pre-match rituals designed to placate the spirits, while the others either did not or did it pro-forma.

from the little they showed in the title sequence, they also had previously did stick fighting in another african tribal location, and other lesser known martial arts & sports, along with canoe racing the local papuans in dugouts in new guinea. i would have liked to have seen the other shows. they did not go for the well known martial arts like karate, kung fu, mui thai, etc. and thus were more interesting. they were all full contact, nobody from the locals were 'holding back' and a number of the contestants dropped out due to injury. maybe they'll replay it....

if they do these kind of shows, it must be true immersion learning - chuck them in the deep end & see if they can swim with the local sharks.

I think through many years of watchin ufc, pride, mma, streetfight, etc. That these days its not one but a combination of fighting techniques that are superior.Or a well placed group with .40 or .45 acp. I remeber when ufc first started the first few were guy coming to find which style was best. They had ninjitsu, karate, kung fu, sumo, savat, 400 lbs bone breakers. All of which were destoyed by Muay Thai or Jujitsu. That is why both of these are still around. Both of these arts were created on the battle field for life or death situations. I personally think that they should leave the fights at the end out. They are nothing more than glorified sparring. I am sorry but I find it hard to believe that that Bill so and so was a fighter ya right. He looks like an oaf with no technique. The other guy is rather good though. Dont get me wrong I enjoy watching it and will continue to. Also Danny did you catch in ufc 2 when my boy Pat Smith dispacthed a ninja with a few well placed elbows? ;)

Let's not forget the ancient Romans had something similar, though far more brutal than modern MMA: the pankration. One scribe dismissed it as "imperfect boxing combined with imperfect wrestling", though the pankration fighter would probably have fared better in a life or death struggle than a fighter with a more limited though refined arsenal.

If you miss an episode, they have it on the iTunes site for 1.99. Since I don't have TV, this is my only means of watching stuff like this. I want to download the Escrima show... I used to work out in this style when I lived in Rapid City. Living above the dojo (and having the sensei for a landlord) had its benefits :)

Or you could serach for a torrent for $.00, but that would be unethical. :foot:

The savate episode may be my favourite thus far. The only exposure I've had to this particular art had been what's included the The Tao of Jeet Kune Do and Mike Meyers' mispronounciation in an SNL skit where he plays an English bike courier.

The big guy fared quite well I thought. Even knocked the former champ off his feet at one point there.

You guys arent going to believe this. The production crew showed up at the dojo tonight. Before I left someone asked me if I'd like to be in the show.
Next tuesday I'm gonna suit up and see what happens.
It might be because I am almost the same size as their guy, I don't know.
You never know, they might change their minds or decide to do something else, but if things go as planned, I will ninjify the big guy next week.

Danny, that's awesome! :D:D!

Keep us posted. I want to see this:thumbup:

Neato! I've missed the last few weeks as I've been watching a lot of Pride and UFC lately, but I'll have to check out what I've been missing.

As long as they don't use Parkour on Danny, things will be okay. :D

Oh, Danny, make sure you don't watch the new show, "Chuck" as the first five minutes are heavily parkour laden.

Oh a wiseguy, eh! Badoink! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk! Oooh, ooh, ooh! Yaaaaaaah!
Get over heeeeere ya imbecile.
I aint no imbecile, I'm a presbyterian.
Smack!

And so on...

I doubt they will. These are mercenaries errr TV producers, they dont have time to play jumpy jumpy.
