New Spyderco Bushcraft (G10) is out :)

Looks like a damn fine knife,I just wish it was made in Boulder,CO..
01 & G-10 are great, sure,but TAIWAN????
There are too many good makers on these boards to be supporting a company that is so greedy they have to go off shore to get thier knives made!!!

Don't troll the threads, you won't last long. Going down this road again, you should already know nothing good can come of it. The steel is American made. If you don't want it, don't buy it.
By the way...What Spydercos are made in Boulder, CO? All the ones I have are from Golden, CO.

I wonder why they did not go with Seki City, Japan instead. Although, as of late the dollar has been extremely weak in Japan, with the exchage rate as low as 80 yen to the dollar. Taiwan's products should not be confused with the mainlands'. Taiwan produces some top quality merchandise. An example would be Sangean electronics, universally recognized as a top-notch company.

Looks nice, and Spyderco's knives coming out of Taiwan lately have been giving any of their other makers a good run for their money. Don't confuse Taiwan with mainland China, big difference there..

I can't believe in this day and age that people like you two are still around.

What is with your comments that Taiwan cannot produce a product to compete with any other yours?
Is it true that your country produces the best because you are indeed the best?

O-1, G-10. These materials are made into one object Spyderco proudly calls the Bushcraft model. Why is there so much conflict on where it is made? Isn't there supposed to be more emphasis on how good the end product is instead of mindlessly bashing on the fact that the location is Satanic and devilish?

I'm losing faith day by day, seeing posts like these. The people in this country may never get over the fact that you must rely on other countries to survive. How has companies like Walmart survived? They purchased cheaper products from foreign countries so it passes the savings to the customer. This is exactly what Spyderco is doing.

Don't like it? Don't do it.
Same with Transportation Security Administration. I avoid Walmart because I can, I'll avoid anything I please to. You have the freedom to do the same. Bashing can go somewhere else.

Where was the computer made that you used to criticize Spyderco? I'll bet it wasn't America...or even Taiwan.

I can't believe there's an internet user supporting a computer company that's so greedy they go offshore to get their computers made .:thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn:

Ever buy a knife with ATS-34 blade steel? That's a Hitachi product! Ease up on the hatin' please, it's a big world these days.

I don't know seems pretty expensive to me with 1095 and made offshore. Just cause it has Spyderco's name on it doesn't make it worth more by an stretch. That being said I suppose one could do worse and one could do better ala Cold Steel, Kabar, Ontario, makers on the forums here etc.etc. Ain't bitchin about it mind you cause Spyderco has to make what they have to make. Just to much for me to spend for sure. keepem sharp

I have one of the originals with the Maple handle. I was a lucky one that had and still has no issues with the handle. The original knife was 01 tool steel, and came with one of the sharpest Scandi grinds I have handled. It has a very comfortable handle and the fit and finish was damn near perfect. Spyderco is an American company, and if part of it was made overseas I don't give a damn. I purchased it in America, from an American retailer, and I am more than happy with my purchase.

I have purchased the majority of my knives from the makers of BladeForums, and have been very happy with them.

However, please direct me to a maker that will make me a full tang, scandi ground knife, with contoured G10 handles, great fit and finish, with a very well made leather sheath for $179.00 (I don't care what the MSRP is, it sells for $179)

This is made by, I assume, the same outsourcing partner who brought us the Sage 1 & 2, the Chokwe, the Gayle Bradley, and the previous Bushcraft.
I have them all and they are absolutely perfectly made. For me, Spyderco's "Made in Taiwan" text has become a selling point.
I'm quite confident that this one will be just as nice.

Wish they'd get rid of the little hole in the blade. It has no function I can determine. And the price is outrageous!

That "little hole" is a trademark. It's like asking Benchmade to rid themselves of the butterfly because you are afraid of them. It has no function, you are correct aside from being the trademark. It also has no impairment because of it. Can you find someone that can offer the same knife for that price? If so, PLEASE link it.

I have the spalted maple factory second. It's the sharpest knife I have ever received. It has by far the most comfortable handle I have every used...period. If this is the same exact handle shape and now it's available in my favorite handle material, then it's well worth $180. A little sanding and that handle is perfect. I'm not a leather sheath fan, but this one works well (but with the G-10 handle, this thing is begging for a good kydex sheath...need to give Marion Poff a call).

I may buy this in G-10, unless I could buy the G-10 handles seperately. Sal?!!

Where do we even start with this stuff?

First, hypocrisy.

Second, laziness...if you were willing to read posts by Sal Glesser on this topic, which comes up frequently, you'd realize that in many cases the choice is not Taiwan or Colorado but sell a Taiwan or Japan or wherever knife or don't offer it at all. There is only so much capacity, human and PP&E, in Colorado. Expansion is costly, difficult, time-consuming and can be a disaster if sales fade.

There is more, but why waste electrons...

I've got one on the way right now. In the same goodie package is a Gayle Bradley and the new CF Lum! Should be a fun package to open!

tonym and RevDevil, I love Spyderco too but you can't honestly think the price is a smoking good deal. You can get American hand-made scandi knives of similar dimensions with the same 01 steel and micarta handles for $150 or hand-finished Finland made ones for $100.
