New Strider Pivot

It may be just a simple improvement to the old one. I owned one PT with a bad pivot that was replaced because the threads on the male part stripped. I've since seen two others for this so maybe they just had some problems with that and decided it was time to fix it.

That new warranty is basically like just about like saying no warranty at all because if they see one rounded off corner from wear whether you did or not they can use it as an out to just say the hell with it. So I guess if you even polish the edge on it or sharpen it yourself they can void the warranty then?

Its going to suck for some that like to take their knives apart. All but one of the six Strider folders I've owned needed lock adjustments from vertical blade play developing. This was simply because the lock was set weaker for spring action than it maybe should have been and probably because the locks stuck and binded so when newer so they were set weaker to make them easier to disengage and use. Once broke in though they started this up and down clicking from the lock not having enough spring tension to continue to self correct for wear. I've seen it before with liner and frame locks across the board. Not usually a big deal to fix yourself if you can take it apart.

Now it may be a different story. That may be a good thing though because some people are all thumbs and just make things worse. What would fry my noodle is if I sent my old style model in for a spa treatment and notice they stuck the new pivot in it for the return trip? It does not sound like this tool is going to be made available by Strider.

It came back with all the original parts, it only had a little bit of the tang smoothed out.

As far as the shipping goes, my wife's in the Air Force and we're stationed in the UK. We have an APO address on base at the US Post Office. It would have cost $15 ($14.60 actually) if they sent it back to me Priority mail with insurance. When I asked why they only used $4 they told me the other $11 was for packing material and a trip to the post office. The post office is only 1 mile from their office so those must have been some expensive packing peanuts!

This is ridiculous, makes sense for Strider though. :thumbdn:

Some one has to pay for such a hard-charger to go get some burritos.

I think by blade grinding they're referring to changing the blade shape (like Krein's work). Edge geometry is perfectly acceptable. I'm pretty sure their main rule for pimping the knife is obvious stuff (taking a dremel tool to the knife), not little dings etc.

EDIT: Also to add, I have a recollection reading on another forum where Mick was fine with painting, and even engraving on the blade. One police officer wanted to engrave his number on the blade, and he seemed cool with it.

Can I go ahead and order one of these confident that they are both the correct pin diameter?

Any update on whether these tools would work on the Strider PT new pivot? If so, which of the two mentioned is the better one?
Inquiring minds want to know! :)

Thanks in advance!
