New Survival Knife From TOPS !

It says the administrator has banned my IP address, which is odd, as I've never visited the site before.

I know Mykel Hawke personally, and work with him sometimes on diffrent things. His knife is a bestseller, i.e. TOPS sold out of the 1st, run. They are in production or another batch.

TOPS is also, working on two more of his knife designs. His Discovery channel show airs on July 16, Mykel is also a author of three books, one is a bestselling.

Haters hate, makers make.

The Twilight movie sold out in many theaters in its first run, too. Just because there are lots of idiots who buy something, doesn't mean it's good.

Just sayin' ;)

Mustardman and Manlicher, Success speaks for itself, money talks and everything else walks. I know Tactical Knives, means nothing to Gold Members and artisans such as yourselves.

BUT, Mike Fuller one of the owners of TOPS. Thought Mykel and the Hellion, to be worth the effert and risk. BUT, hay he has only been selling and making knives, for a little bit. He most assuredly has no clue what he is doing.

Again, the people who made the Twlight movies know how to make money, and sell them to annoying teenagers who have no clue about the world, but I don't take that to be a sign of quality.

I fully admit that the folks at TOPS know how to make tacticlol knives that sell to college kids who can afford more expensive versions of the mall ninja stuff they bought at the flea market when they were teenagers. And TOPS even makes some knives that are extremely practical and made of solid quality materials. But they also make dumb crap like this knife, that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Of course, if I did touch it with a ten foot pole, it would be because I was lashing the knife to it to make a spear, which I would use to "deanimate" Viet Cong while tasting my own blood and spouting catchy one-liners. That's how things work in the harsh jungle, right? I mean, I saw it on TV once, so I better go buy a nice tacticool knife to make me feel manly.

This thing is dumb. Sorry if that offends you, but that's my opinion. I don't sell knives, so my lack of mountains of teenagers' money makes me less qualified I guess, but in my unqualified opinion, this is a goofy gimmick that you've bought hook line and sinker.

Mike, is that you? Read the whole thread and move on. Your personal experience trumps our opinions? Great, wonderful, amazing, thanks for sharing. Buzz off. We're entitled to our opinions the same as you're entitled to swim upstream here. We've expressed ourselves. Now, stop trolling.

I think the knife worked well, and did everything it is advertised to do. Using it with a bow drill wasn't bad at all and TOPS definitely did a great job on the heat treat. There are some advantages to having only straight lines for edges in the field when sharpening only with a small stone. Skinning with it would be a bit slower if you wanted to save the hide. While I do prefer to have a couple or trio of tools in the field I wouldn't mind having one as my only cutting tool in a long term wilderness situation if I had to take only one cutting tool, there are definitely much worse knives I could be stuck with. I'm personally looking forward to seeing the smaller version when it comes out. I hope they put a more acute angle on the point to make it better as a fighter if needs be.

You know, you and Myke, don't have to use the comma, like, every other word, don't you.

The admin at the Professional Soldier site used the word "MTV" (or perhaps that is an acronym) to describe your and Myke's standard of writing. In an effort to NOT be like that I am tightening up on myself simply b/c I should.

Being an Army brat I have met many soldiers who were the real deal. SF qualified as well as many other MOS's. You can tell the real deal or truly professional soldiers no matter what the MOS from the fake or fluff b/c the real people will inspire you to better yourself. The fakes only talk about themselves.

Back on topic: This design would not work for me and my needs. I can only recommend you start using knives and find out for yourself what actually works and what does not. You do not have to be SF qualified to cut up some wood and build a fire or skin a squirrel or...

I absolutely love mine and the saw works great plus they made it like the old buckmaster so it won't hurt your hand if you need to press on the saw to cut with main blade. The sheat is ballistic nylon with kydex insert and sheat pouch comes with survival kit inside. I had to remove top edges to baton with it though. It looks better the way I cut the edges off anyway and made it flat top past the sawteeth

Would love to see a photo...
