Hi Andy -

Cool new toy!

I was just looking at a new KLR600 at my local Kawasaki shop -

I have a couple of KTM 300s (one MX/C and one EX/C) - but nothing street legal that I could do adventures on - for now I just do "adventures" on my trusty 97 Concours (Fat Bast*rd)

Thanks for sharing your pics and experience cleaning the bike up - I enjoy taking an old bike and getting it back into riding condition, or in your case, just doing some detail work and making a fine bike even nicer!

Enjoy - and thanks again for the pics -

best

Though the upholstery place called last night to confirm they will do my seat cover and tank cover... ;)

My current woods bike. I have a 440 big bore kit and big gun exhaust, steering stabilizer and custom suspension all around since these photos were taken.

NIce XR mate.... all my dirt bikes prior to this were Hondas... no complaints from me..!!!

Just found out the XT wont be ready today either..... :( :( :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

Bloody hell....got home tonight and some of the steel racks and guards (not the ones pictured) arrived from the US today....now I have them but no bike to bolt 'em on..!!!

You are nothing if not persistent mate... have the day to myself tomorrow so all being good I will break out the Nikon.... :D

Soooo... the broken manifold stud is playing hard and I STILL don't have it back... this is starting to irritate my homicidal gene... ;)

And finally got the cycle back last night... :) :) :) Now to strip and paint some plastic and sharpen the otward facing pikes.... ;)

Hang some baby doll heads off the end of the handle bars and a manikin arm off the back rack!:D

It's OK mate... I have some shrunken heads I got up in PNG so I was thinking of using them... ;) ;)

Got it back from the shop last night.... most of the work can't be seen, service, tune up, wheel bearing stuck manifold stud but you CAN see the clutch lever lock and the Bark Busters and covers... ;)

Started to strip the plastics off tonight so I can hopefully get some paint on 'em to cure while me and Mrs Andy are on the other side of the country for a couple of weeks....

Been working at it a little this past week and started screwing things back together today.

Guards, cowl, etc are now flat black (thanks Mr Krylon) and the front rack and head light protector got bolted on. Also added a set of larger foot pegs and of course collected the seat back from the upholsterer .... ;) He thought the A-TACS material was in fact mouldy ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still waiting on the back rack and crash bars to arrive and now those blue fork boots need to get changed. The white tank is probably going into a tub for a dye job to match the rest of the flat black.... :D
