NEW TYRADE IS HERE thread!!!!

that would be fantastic if you could post that picture here..... also, it had never occured to me that these two pieces could be fused together within the MIM process. VERY cool!

Here are a coupe of pictures(Not so Good) of the Talonite/Titanium Sandwich Knife Rob Simonich made from the material I had made from Hip-Clading.. I anodized the Titanium to show the two different materials, and to prove bonding of Titanium CP & Talonite.

This thread is really challenging I have had to do some research on Hip-Clading on google and I must say I love this stuff.I need to really think about this area (materials science) of knife making for a while,in the meantime thanks for the pictures.

I'm a technology geek when it comes to knives. I just love learning about the innovative processes and materials behind the knife

I just picked up a Tyrade from my local retailer and it's even nicer in person. Very solid, beefy handle slabs, great design. The pocket clip looks like it will easily grab on to just about anything.

My only gripe is that there is very little clearance between the blade and the top handle slab (non locking side) when the knife is closed. Tightening the pivot moved it away just a hair but not before I put a little rub mark on the blade before noticing. Anyone know how I might be able to adjust it to center the blade a little better?

No... I have had the same problem with other knives. The centering is just plain off, and not correctible via the pivot. I have had pivots that don't even offer much range of tightening or loosening either. In other words, in less than 1/4 turn eith way... it's either too tight or too loose. Maybe someone else has ideas.

I'll be interested to hear what others think of this knife.... I ended up selling it because, as cool as it is, it just wasn't for me. That's a tribute to Kershaw... so many cool new knives, so few spots in the rotation and cash ;)

I'm am sort of in the same boat. I think it's a fantastic looking knife, and I love the blade technology but I don't see myself really USING it. Though that's the case with most of the more costly knives I own. I use and carry a $50 knife way more than a $250 one.

I got my Tyrade a couple of days ago. Very happy with it, until I noticed that as I move the blade around, somewhere between 150 and 120 degrees (180 being full open, 0 being closed), I get an unpleasant grinding sound and feeling. Almost as though there some fine grit in there...

It happens both as I am opening and as I am closing it.

I checked with some my of other Speedsafe Kershaws and nothing like this occurs with them.

Suggestions?

Check with Kershaw warranty dept. Sometimes the pivot screw needs to be moved in or out to align the blade.

I have a Random Leek that did that, its the blade scratching the handle scale. Its pretty easy to fix
