New ZT drop on 11/4. Any leakes?

Definitely disappointed. I knew better than to expect more.

Really, another damn auto? The entire Launch series was not enough?

As someone who collects the USA made Kershaw/ZTs, this was a lackluster reveal all around.

Even on the Kershaw side, we obviously saw there would be a new Iridium and Bel Air, and the profile of the Dawn Star looked intriguing, only to discover it's yet another Chinese cheapy.

You can't seriously be using Benchmade as your value comparison.
Side note, are they seriously charging 50% more just for magnacut? 🤣 🤣 🤣
Your point about Benchmade is valid, lol. But seriously, think about Ti American made autos and what do your find? Protects are $500+ and $360 gets you a low level Microtecj OTF. I think the design is good and that 3.35" .09" blade is going to be great.

All of my Protechs have been $200 or less save for one that I could help myself on 😜

Benchmade should never be in the "value" discussion IMO.

While I dislike titanium, the cost of milling it for use in an auto vs aluminum definitely is a big factor, in addition to the added cost of the raw material.

In the last 8 years there have only been two ZT's to pique my interest, and they are the only two I own, 0470 which is ok and the 0095 S90V which is fantastic.

To me, ZT has generally been a hyper focused brand. Originally they were tough, heavily built knives (emphasis on heavy) designed to withstand rougher use and abuse than your typical folding knife. It was a formula that worked. They then tried to keep up with what is trendy with titanium, bearings, etc and have almost exclusively become a "gentleman's" and/or pseudo art knife company, going against both their original mission and their name.

I think ZT is and has been facing an identity crisis. While it has been quite some years ago, the loss of Ken Onion as a collaborator was felt by all and has been to the detriment to the brand.

It seems to me ZT should try to broaden their lineup to fit a larger target market. Have a mix of heavy, medium, and light use knives like most brands.

What I really wish ZT would do is make a manual version of the 0770CF and remake the 0801 with a less obtuse grind and perhaps a lighter weight version.

Found a site that's selling the 0556 w/free shipping & no sales tax. ☺️

So, I just bought one to add to my ZT & auto collection

It'll be the 1st ZT that I'll own that comes in the new light grey box. 😲

So, I can't say that I only collect vintage ZTs anymore. ☹️

It's like I don't even know who you are anymore...

But, in my defense, I've got a vintage 0350 PE in a Blue Box which I discovered I needed to backfill my 0350 collection & a 0452 RDBW (no box but they stopped making it before the light grey box) to add to my 0452 collection incoming. LOL!

I'm also looking for a plain 0300 PE to backfill my 0300 collection too but the asking prices for the ones currently being sold are CRAZY!!!! 🫣

On the other hand, I'm also thinking about buying 2 other light grey box ZTs -- the 0308 M390 CF FSS & a black 0006. So, I probably am not done buying "non-vintage" ZTs yet. o_O

The 0308CF is a beauty, and will most certainly be a collectible in the future IMO

I've pretty much given up on finding a ZT0392WC, as much as I want one. I think I've seen a couple pop up in the usual spots in the last few years, and both times they were over $1K.
I regret selling my ZT0392WC at cost... to my brother. I was able to get one for him, but I was really tempted to keep it. 😆

Well if ZT is done for I hope Kershaw will still build heavy duty working knives like ZT had until they went all artsy.
