New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

i was just about to buy zt 350, spyderco tasman, hk scorch, and a case knife then i remembered this knife is elmax. seriously idk if i can wait much longer

I'll give my new standard, "No ETA as of today", but will say there has been some nice progress in the factory with the 560/61's.

I can honestly say that I'm over the nail-biting anticipation.

With a 0551 and a few other gems added to the pile... I can sit back and say "when it gets here...it gets here."

Patience is a virtue, LOL!!

There was zero chance the 0560/61 would never hit the streets. Feel confident that they will see 2011....wait, wait, No ETA at this time.

Now that's the best knife news I've read all day! :D

Or, this could mean they'll see 2011 come and go and see 2012 too! :)

:D You about slipped up there. Get that cat back in the bag, that is how all nasty rumors get started.

No hurry here I want one when they are ready but.......works slowwww and funds are low.

I'm often regarded (and sometimes ridiculed) as a "preparedness nut", but standing outside my office building after what's now referred to as the East Coast Earthquake and looking at the multi-level concrete parking structure my vehicle was in, some 35 miles away from home, I decided to upgrade my EDC, the stuff I actually carry on my person- no matter how close the vehicle is during the day. So I'm a little dense. "Earthquake" wasn't high on my list of scenarios here. Now, with a 3.4 one summer and a 5.8 the next... can't exactly say we've had no warning. 35 miles is a very long walk through a disaster area.

I had never paid much attention to ZT knives simply because I don't like coated blades or concave ("recurved") edges (sorry, Mr. O). However, surfing around I came across the 0551, read everything here (good and bad) in a couple of days, and even though I'd just upgraded my SOG to a heavier Benchmade a week later the 0551 is in my pocket. Now you've got my attention. ;)

I have mixed feelings about the 0561/0560 based on what I've read so far. I'd love for Rick to write more about his criteria for the design. Whereas my impression of the 0551 is that it's about 60/40 utility/tactical, I get the feeling that the 0561 is biased the other way, maybe 30/70 workhorse/warhorse. The 0551 might just better suit my needs.

I think what I'd really like is an 0551 scaled up maybe 15 percent (I'm a big guy with large hands, I have sometimes pocket-carried a first-generation Lone Wolf Harsey, almost 11" open, I'm not much intimidated by size). The 0561 looks sort of close to that.. but I'm afraid if I do buy it I'll find that I still like the 0551 better.

One thing- about that polymer ball-bearing washer- please, PLEASE try to make owners aware of what solvents and lubricants NOT to use on it. I've seen good firearms, airguns and some other mechanisms ruined because polymer parts (recoil buffers, seals) deteriorated after the owner, not entirely unreasonably, used what was on-hand in the field or on the road to try to get grime and grit out of the mechanism. Rubbing alcohol (and presumably the other forms), which is perfectly reasonable to use to clean and degrease an all-metal mechanism, seems to do a real number on a lot of high-tech polymers, causing them to crack and literally crumble, and nobody warns you about that. Other plastics reportedly die when exposed to certain high-tech gun lubes.

ETA? Lol!!! It's all good brother :) I still remember how she felt in my hand and how I flipped her for the first time.....
:D

Do you think its too late to get on a preorder list with Kershayguy? I think I would kick myself if I don't at least try to get this one.

Never too late....especially since this is "production" and not limited. You'll just wait a little longer, but you'll get one eventually.

Thomas -- Potentially annoying question for you. Is titanium sorta hard to come by or prohibitively expensive? I'd imagine that it would be a very popular option with the ZT audience, as much or even more so than coyote G10.
Fixed that for you!
Now fixed.
