New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

Well I must be the only one around here who wants his yesterday - and mailed out next day air!! :grumpy:
 
What was the production version of the 0551? Was that the 0550? What ever happened to that?

Last I saw the 550 was still in the works. Kershaw/Kai/zt is pretty busy making stuff people want at the moment :D

This will be my first Zero Tolerance knife. I preordered the 0561, the one with the brown handle. I've never spent more than $30-40 on a pocket knife before and am still a bit gunshy for dropping this much on something that I have several of already. To say I have high hopes for this knife is an understatement. We'll see if it lives up to all the excitement surrounding it....at least I sure hope it does!
 
I'm confident it will be worth the wait. Just hope the wait isn't too much past the end of the year.

we're still looking at a late winter delivery and there's no official ETA at this time. We're still tooling up for those pieces. :)

Late winter = Feb/Mar to me. Hopefully they they are talking about 2012. :)

They won't be here for Christmas 2011.:(

Definitely no ETA, but I'm more than happy with waiting for a perfect knife. :)

Officially there is no ETA for the Hinderer Flippers. We have tooled up for them and we will go extra lengths to make sure that every one will be up to the ZT standard :)"

Feb/Mar 2012 gives the budget a lil' breathing room after the holidays....(have I mentioned I have 6 GrandKids?) and as much as I want one now, my chances of owning the FLIPPERS go way up.

If you've been a busy bee and read threads leading up to the 1st collaboration with Rick Hinderer (ZT0551), there was so much fervor, salivation and pushing by us knife nuts for this piece that it "may" have led to some issues that kind of tarnished what would have been a perfect launch and sale of this fine limited edition folder (ZT0551). A man even lost his job over our demand for a quick release of that folder. Rightfully or not is not to me to discern.

We pressed poor Thomas into daily/weekly postings. Pics of every stage of the mfg. process had plenty of small squabbles and eventually had to make a 2nd thread. It was huge!

So where am I going with this? There was a snippet somewhere back during that period where someone mentioned the "BIG 3 knifemakers" including Kershaw head & shoulders on even ground with Benchmade and Spyderco. Thomas posted a thank you comment in reply to that post alluding to Kershaw/ZT/KAI, being honored, to be included in the same light as Benchmade and Spyderco as one of the BIG 3 makers.

I personally think that Kershaw/Zero Tolerance has now arrived, and has a firm spot as one of the big 3 knife making companies. I don't think that KAI/Zero Tolerance is ready for anymore "pie in the face" launches of a highly awaited/anticipated folder, such as this new collaboration.

Notice the lack of updates from Thomas as compared to the ZT 0551? Thread size is small by comparison, no fighting or arguments? This is the better/best way. The knife will be ready when it's ready and I'm cool with that. We all get a better product, Kershaw/ZT is not under the pressure that could possibly lead to any problems with this ZT0560/0561 folder.

I'm remaining patiently STOKED guys!! :D :D
 
Well said cziv. I initially was not as interested in this knife because of it's size but have to admit that it's grown on me considerably and now I too can hardly wait to get my hands on one. I've got my name on my local EDC supplier's list for when this comes out and regularly ask him if he's got any updates whenever I see him.
As they say though, patience is a virtue.

Perhaps I should have put a smiley in my post - I am fine with no ETA and can patiently wait. :)
