New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

 And they're probably all stuck tip-down into his desk just waiting to be "plucked" :D

ala mission impossible style!

LOL, I haven't seen him do this, but maybe if the stress levels get too high....

To me it hasn't been a very long wait at all. Didn't expect them in 2011.

This is truth - we have been going pretty hard at this project, and 6 months from BLADE show is actually very quick.

Don't worry, be happy :D

Any word on how sand/debris will affect the KVT bearing system? Is it sealed in such a way that we'll having nothing to worry about with regards to sand or whatever getting into the bearing system? Of course I mean under normal user conditions is it easy to keep grit out of the bearing system? I won't be pouring sand into my 0560.

I personally can't wait to get my hands on one of these but I get the feeling that most are over it and no longer care when they come out. <grin>

I don't think anyone really knows yet. Personally I'm more concerned with the plastic (what polymer IS that?) washer that holds the bearings reacting with solvents or lubricants that people may try to use to get grit OUT of the bearing without disassembling it. I've seen alcohol destroy plastics, and I hear some gun lubes eat some polymers as well.

Don't get me wrong, I think this has the potential to be a great knife,, maybe a knife that raises the bar for all production folders from now on, and I'm really tempted.. but by introducing it with a largely-unproven bearing system ZT has probably made a few folks like myself hesitate. With a move this drastic it's not unusual for there to be a few bugs in early releases, when stuff actually starts to get used by large numbers of people in the field in many different conditions. It's the biggest reason I decided not to pre-order and take a wait-and-see position instead. I hope I'm just being over-cautious, but it's not a trivial amount of money, I've got the ZT0551 in my pocket, and we'll probably start to get real-world feedback soon enough.

I have faith that they know exactly what they're doing and it won't be an issue....just wondered if cleaning/care for the pivot would be a bit more Involved than a normal bronze washer and if the user needed to worry about getting grit in it but I would imagine that they've thought of all that.
I'm use to polishing the bronze washers and then using TUf-GLIDE as the lube but I'll just follow whatever instructions they give for this model.

Very excited to get mine....love the 0551.
