New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

I emailed kershawguy on 11/21/10 & pre-ordered my ZT/H Flippers , in response to a post by Tony8179 here on Blade:

I have a feeling we're in for something that may garner even more attention than the 0550/0551."

I would like to thank everyone involved with this knife, from design to delivery, including kershawguy, who supplies my addiction, and looking back to that day, I'd also like to thank Tony8179 for posting that fine "heads-up!"

Just to recap:

:D

Does anyone know if a washer goes in the pivot area against the Ti scale before the KVT bearing goes in? Just curious.

I've been thinking about something ever since the guys who got the knife already and said that the thumb studs do not really work. This is not meant to start anything and should not be taken as a complaint of any kind. But what was done differently from the 0561 that was in the kershawknivesmike video where he was flicking it open with his pinkey to the ones being shipped. I just saw the other day(yesterday I think) where one of the mods said that this was meant to be used as a flipper, which is completely understandable. I was just wondering if there was different type of machining going on, or if there was a different build process? Thanks in advance guys!

I thought the same thing. I remember him using the studs easily but had forgot the pinky thing. Maybe it boils down to coordination? I have often found guys who complain about getting used to the way a new knife works. I remember lots of people saying how the Umnumzaan was hard for them, and it gave me no difficulty at all. Some folks may just have different dexterity levels..... Or that one we saw in the vid may've been tweaked??

No - the bearing washer rides on the Ti. We haven't had any problems with this.

I know there was some KVT banter earlier in this thread, but I can't remember if this was answered; are you all expecting better/worse/ or about the same performance from KVT over washers in dirty dusty environments?

For those who are concerned about not pre-ordering, I would simply say that KAI has to know what they've got in the 0560/0561. Leaving money on the table by failing to satisfy near-term and long-term demand would be uncharacteristic of them.

I suspect that looking back on this thread a year from now will provide an interesting study in needless angst. ;)

Well-said!

Almost poetic....somewhat prosaic....definitely prophetic.

I admire that.

I would think though that this thread is merely a sampling of the market. We can't allow ourselves to think that we represent the whole market place. Most of us are knife enthusiasts, but I'd imagine the average joe on the street who needs a knife is happy with a buck 110 or grip(nothing wrong with either). I guess what I am saying is that ZT fills a niche in the market. While the 56x is going to be big, the scope of its bigness in the big scheme maybe a bit smaller than those of us wanting the knife may think. Use the recent SHOT show as an example. The way some of us are thinking about this knife everyone at SHOT would've gone to just fondle and drool over this knife and left without care of any other offerings. Yes the 56x will be big but there's a whole big world of knives out there.

:thumbup:I am hoping you are correct!

Would be awesome but I'm not holding my breath. All I care is that I eventually get one. I waited 7 months, I can wait another 7. Although I'd prefer a shortened wait period :D

Well, since they are already released in Canada and Europe and a few folks here have them coming to them this week from "secret dealers", I'd say its getting REALLY close to that time!!!

Secret dealers? Sounds like a conspiracy or we are taking the whole Kershaw mafia too far. :D

These topics a few pages back make me sick!
People complaining that the 0560 selling for 400$ in Canada is ridiculous!!

I am in Austria and i have been researching a lot on dealers in Germany and Austria and the cheapest 0560 flipper i found is 280 euros. Most of them sell them for 299. (299 x 1.31 =391 dollars)
Be happy you guys WILL get them at such a low price!

yes i can import but that's 50$ shipping + 20% taxes :)
