New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

Honestly, the news that it feels light and thin is exciting to me. A blade this big and strong that feels light and thin is my EDC dream!

Well, big, light & thin have been confirmed - strong, not yet but I hope so. I like to push my hard use folders to the max. just sayin. ;)

Even without getting one yet, I can confirm "strong".

The Bottom Line: it's first name is Z.T. and it's last name is Hinderer!

:D

As long as your using this knife the way your supposed to use a knife, it's not gonna fail ;)
Im sure somebody will get one and start stabbing car doors, cutting down trees and stabbing wild boars to death on video.

For the money you will be happy.

It feels like a folding combat knife to me, more then an edc, not that it wouldnt make a great edc, just saying

A bit more perspective on the 0560 and other projects that we have/are producing recently.

Through our conversations here on BF's , please know that we do take note on the input we receive here. Some needs to be filtered, but we do hear you, and analyze the intel we receive. In many cases we have implemented change to existing items, and have also brought on new features with debuting product.
We thank you all very much.

What we've heard with regards to ZT was on size and weight. While many of you like the overbuilt aspect, the 0200's and 0300's were to big, thick and heavy for everyday carry. In evaluating these responses, we came to the conclusion that we would attempt at similar type products but with the intent to sacrifice the thick, and heavy. We felt we could capture full size but make like easier to carry from a weight and girth standpoint.

The Tilt was really the first full sized knife that we set out to do this to, and feel it turned out fantastic. Like with every design, it's not for everyone, but there is no denying that for it's size, it's a bit of a welterweight with all the top flight materials and technology included. Goal achieved.

The 0560 is in this genre as well. Compare it to it's cousin the 0550. The 0550 is tough, thick, weighty, and blocky Everything we've all come to expect from a knife in this category. Almost all fit this description. With the 0560 we wanted it to be different from it's relative and competition. We put it on a diet. We removed a lot of Ti with the 3-D machining. Large portions of the liner material disappeared. No beefy backspacer. The result was a knife that brings everything to the table that we're all used to, in a package that is as strong, yet sleeker, faster, and dare I say smarter than the what we've seen in the past. We could have done the same, same, but felt this was the direction based on your call.

This piece will feel different, and I believe some will not understand it at first. We've all been programmed from the past, and the Tilt, 0560, and upcoming 0777 go against that regular grain. They are different animals, a new breed of which I believe will be the trend going forward.

Thank you again for your valued input.

Very much looking forward to the new slimmer and lighter design, Thomas. I can't wait to get the 0560 in hand and try it out. Thanks for keeping us informed!

Appreciate that info, Thomas W.

Lighter/ smoother/ sleeker / faster / more EDC-friendly.....what's NOT to like?!?!

Carry on,Sir!

I'm glad several of us BEGGED...yes, I mean BEGGED ya'll.... for a ZT/H FLIPPER!

This is like a special gift, for those of us with old hand injuries, for whom thumb studs are virtually useless.

Thanx! again, to you & Rick Hinderer, and all who were involved in bringing this to the table.

Question for guys that have already received their 560 and have a 550/551.
Which knife feels better in hand, I know they feel a little different, slimmer vs. a little thicker ?

I have a 0300, 0302, 0200, 0500, and a 0551 and they all feel great in hand to me. I'm not a fan of thinner knives anymore like I used to be.

Can anyone out there with calipers tell me how much thinner the 0560 is than the 550/551. Probably not much, I'd like to know tho.

Man, all this talk has me all heated. I really want one a 0560. Sad that I won't be able to get one at a fair price for such a long time.

I have been doing some shopping for a heavy duty folder and I ended up ordering a DPX HEST 2.0. I really like it but the more I look, the more I am unsatisfied. It's not that it's a bad knife, it's just that it doesn't give me confidence like I thought it would. I was going to get a 0550 but it was too "chunky and blocky". The 0560 seems like a perfect compromise. I just can't pay the price these are going for on the secondary market right now.

Damm, I just got the ZT 350. Awesome knife. Was looking at the ZT 300 but that one is just too big for an EDC. This one is just right.

Thomas's comments confirm what I experienced at the SHOT Show. The 0560 is definitely slimmer and sleeker than its older brethren. Those who have come to expect big, bulky ZT knives may be disappointed, but I like the way the 0560 felt. The only questionable item is the length of the knife. Even without being a heavyweight by ZT standards, it's still a pocketful.

That's the reason I no longer have any in the ZT series and I had all at one time or another. Too bulky and as nice as my 0551 was, it too is now gone. This sleeker, lighter weight design might just be the ticket fo me this time around.

Hi everybody, this is my first post in this forum. I'm reading it for a long time and I finally joined.
The 0560 is hitting ebay now and they sell it for about $500. I'm living in Switzerland and I could get a Hinderer XM18 from a shop here for about the same amount.
I guess this would be quite a good deal, any recommondations on the price? Is this a bargain or just the usual street price? I could get also a XM 24 for about $720.

bigdean, I see that you are in Switzerland. Were none of your local dealers a part of the initial shipment that you have to look on ebay? Or did they sellout too quickly for you to get one? What is the MSRP for the 0560/0561 in Europe?

Its hard to say what feels better as they both feel good in different ways, it definitely feels more secure imo, it really is the best knife ive seen for the money all though ive never been lucky enough to handle a tilt

I'm getting an 0560, but I doubt I'll EDC it. I work in an office setting and I don't need a knife as heavy-duty as anything ZT makes at the moment. I might throw it into my pocket on a weekend, however.

The 0700 is small and light enough for edc, if you can get ahold of one of those I would!

I have the other ZTs and the 0560. As far as I'm concerned the 0560 as Thomas explained is a different animal. It has it's own personality. It feels a lot more agile in the hand if that makes sense - not blocky at all. Hard to imagine that this knife would not live up an exceed it's design parameters. It's a tough knife. I really like the 0560 and could easily EDC it if I chose too.
