New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

I have a 0561 coming soon. Thankfully. I wanted the 0560 but the 0561 popped up and I couldn't resist. I'm going to keep my preorder for the 0560 open with Dave, though. I'll just have to sell one or the other.

...Yeah...right.

Man, KC must have gotten a big shipment or had a low amount of preorders. I was late to order (Oct) but would rather wait to get mine from Dave whenever he gets it in. Plus it gives ZT some time to make those tweeks. Yep I can wait....I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

I live in switzerland and since Dave doesn't ships overseas I had to order it elsewhere and KC were the only ones still taking preorders. I also did buy at KC before and it went well.

If I didn't have a pair of 0551s already, perhaps it would have been different. Maybe I just have 'enough' premium knives. For some reason, I drove ~50 miles roundtrip Friday and Saturday to peruse the 560/561, DPX HEST, and LionSpy. I came home without a new knife. Having one of my 0551s to A-B didn't help. Specifically, my complaints on the 560/561 revolve, so to speak, on the deployment/retraction - the pivot seened to drag - this was noted on the three examples I fondled. Also, the lockbar engagement seemed to vary with deployment speed. Normal deployment was hard to unlock - faster, ie, more engagement, took both thumbs to unlock. The grind eveness was VG and the sharpness was as well - on all three examples (Not so the HEST or LionSpy - very variable.).

My wife admitted that she had the sales clerk put a 0561 back for her for my birthday this summer. I greatly appreciate her efforts - she shocks me regularly with knives. Early last month, she presented me with a Benchmade 275BK Adamas - for no reason, other than her feelings towards me. I asked her if she would have the clerk put the knife back in stock yesterday - she did so. I suppose that pushes the door closed on the 560/561 question here. I was more favorably impressed with it over the Hest & LionSpy, however. YMMV.

Well here's a new one on me. Delivery confirmation shows my 0560 was "out for delivery" at 9:46am yesterday. Knife never showed up and when I went to bed it still showed "out for delivery" with the same expected delivery date of 3/12/12. This morning it now shows "deliver status not updated".

I'm hoping/guessing that since it didn't leave the sort center until almost 10am yesterday that it missed getting on my guys jeep and will be delivered today. That being said you'd think the status would have been updated at some point yesterday. Anyone else ever run into this?

I took some pictures of my ZT 0560 after 3 or 4 openings and saw the same thing as you describe about the lockbar engaging in different places. The reason for this I can't say. I just noticed it last night.

I would love one of the Benchmade 275BK Adamas folders but can't afford or justify buying one. Too many good folders to keep buying more. Why did you have them cancel the order? Looks like a real beast. ;)

Does anyone know why they do not have the G10 scale made to the same shape that the liner is below it? Across from the lockbar the G10 is higher than the liner is. I will have to see if my 0551 is like that.

THis happened to me recently with an order I made (not, a knife) - it showed out for delivery all day, but was never delivered. I got it the next day - hopefully that is the case for you!

This is a feature that Rick Hinderer uses on his XM-18 - it is meant to create some room for your thumb to release the lockbar. It's a clean, simple way of accomplishing this, so we decided to use it on the 0560 series.
 
I've carried my 0560 a dozen times or more since I got her and she is getting better than she even was the first day I got her - I'm still calling this knife one of the best $260 folders I have ever owned - it easily falls into that category . . . It might be one of the best folders I have ever owned anyway. Great knife and she holds her own with the rest of my regular rotation . . .

Thanks for the reply. That's what I'm hoping happens. Still showing "delivery status not updated". According to the USPS website it, after 5 days it hasn't been delivered I can request a search. I'll probably do that as well as let Roger know that it never arrived.

UPDATE: Nothing again today and still no further update from USPS. Kinda bumm'ed.

Reeek, Great assembly of folders you got there! Must take a month to rotate
through those.

My 560 had a very sticky lock but that quickly smoothed out nicely after about ten
days and pretty constant "flipping". It is now silky smooth with just about 50 percent
lockup with a low acceleration flip or a heavy wrist action assisted flip. I think these
lock actions need to work- in as it were to get the right results. I am very pleased
with mine now.
 
Does anyone have a preorder with Dave (Kershawguy) for a 561 that PO sometime near 6/16/11. If yes do you know where you are on

Dave's list for 561s and how soon you might get your 561 ?

I don't want to bother Dave with another email.:D
