Thrill, I'm here with ya buddy!
I thought "toothiness" was a result of courseness of the edge grind, not crystalline structure. That's an accurate description. The steel takes and holds a razor edge longer than the CPM stainless series. The way I understand it, CPM 1st generation PM is like having the carbides as fine sand, whereas 3rd generation PM is like talc powder. The result being better toughness, easier to sharpen to a razor edge/mirror finish, and the edge won't be as "toothy" like S30V because the carbides are even finer grained and more evenly distributed. Though I don't believe it's as tough as CPM-M4, it still seems to have a tendency to roll rather than chip, so it's tough enough:thumbup:.
Any idea what MSRP will be on these knives? Debating on whether I'd rather put in an order for one of these, or a few of the new Kershaw knives Thomas has posted about.

I'd like to know too so I'll know whether this is even in my price range or if I should just move on.
No idea on the price, but I would think that it would be in the same "ball park" as the 0551/0550. Probably on the higher side though.
So I'm still curious. Any chance of a combo edge on this model? (the correct answer, hopefully, is YES)![]()
