New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

Bring out a 3 3/4 - 4" flipper 1st.
Then folow up with a mini if you must.

VP -

Both of these knives are filling different slots in the lineup, but they're more like cousins than brothers. The 550/551 is based on Rick's "Camp Knife" design, has bronze washers, and has flat sided handles, and thumbstud opening with no flipper.

The new 560 is based on the XM-18, has 3D contoured handles, KVT bearing washers, a variation on the X-18 texture, and opens with a flipper or a thumbstud. The lengths may be similar, but it's not the main point of comparison. The 560 is not intended to be a replacement for the 550/551.

I agree jimmer_5. I look at this as a refined (bearings) flipper version of the 0551. Any of you PhotoShop Gurus able to get a 0551 and the 0560 side by side? I'd really like to see that comparison. Just for curiousity sake. :)

Edit: OOOPS! Ask and ye shall recieve. Push the 0551 up even and the blades look exactly the same, but these are pics and can be decieving.

I wonder what else is going to come out of Kershaw/ZT withen the next few years. I'm always amazed at what new knives they come up with.

I love the 3.75" blade length. A little longer than my 3.5" XM-18, but not too long.

Great job Rick/Thomas. I can't wait to get my grubby paws on this bad boy!

Hmmm...so then both knives have an overall length difference of .675''. The blade length differences alone makes up for .25'' of this overall length difference. So which part of my previous statement was wrong exactly?

Your saying the 055X has a 3.0'' blade length??? lolll I'll pretend I didn't see that.
Typing error. Corrected 055x blade length to 3.5". I wasn't saying you were wrong, just that you were hoping for a 4" blade for the 056x and it's going to be 3.75".

You have to realize that it couldn't be 3" a 3.5" or a 4" they are not going to make something that will take away or replace Ricks XM line. The 3.75 is a perfect fit in every way for Customers, ZT and Hinderer. It fills the final gap in the XM Line at a price most can afford. It's the best of both worlds. I have a 3.5" XM18 a ZT 0551. I don't even compare this to the 0551/0550 series. In my eyes they look nothing alike. The grinds and shape of the blade are completely different. I never thought my 0551 looked like an XM. The 0560/0561 looks like a version of the XM. I think ZT pulled it off great. They also are giving us a custom slab of Ti for the framelock. This option on Ricks knives would be very expensive and hard to come by.

Thanks guys for doing this and doing it right.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Here's a pic with some of knives in question, to scale.

You forgot to throw in the beang system, which should make this one righteously kick*ss!! :D

Nice scaled up pic kneedeep! ;) It sure made me remember what a beast the ZT 0301 is..

I know I can't be the only one who would like to see a SMALLER version at some point. Don't get me wrong, I'm planning on getting a 560, but I prefer the size of the 0350 and would love to see a Hinderer collaboration at 3.25" to fill the other XM gap.

The ZT 0551 made me get a XM-24 just because I liked it so much and I wanted to see the differences.

This knife is so great looking and full of features I wonder what to buy next?

A XM-26 maybe ?

Oh yes! That sweet lil system Thomas blessed us with! I can't wait!

I would be up for a 3.25"; could be an interesting piece.

Somehow I think we're in the minority here wanting a shorter blade! I'd be happiest with a 3 to 3.25" blade also. If I do get one of these I'm sure it'll hardly be EDC'd...just too big for my urban needs. I'm happy for those who are getting what they wanted though, it looks like this is going to be an awesome flipper.
