New ZT0550 Thread !!!

Wow, I must have been under a rock or something. I saw the first thread when it was at two pages and thought the handles were too bulky for my tastes, And the blade is longer than what I prefer .
I had no idea it was so popular. Even at $250! Is it that R. Hinderer had a hand in the production? Or the steel?

I dunno if I'm the only one, but this is one of the very few (two) ZT folders that appeals to me. Mostly, I'm looking forward to trying out a ZT with a) nifty exotic steel and b) no recurve. Plus for me, the blade length and overall size are ideal for a hard use knife, and I've been looking to try out a Ti framelock for quite a while now, so everything just seems to be coming together with this knife. Just my $0.02

Waiting for the announcement that the first batch is ready to ship... Only four more days to go.

someone has got to post pics of this for those who didnt order the 0551... will give us ideas on how 0550 will look :)

Had to do some added machining to the handle. Another minor delay, hope to start assembly by week's end.

Thanks Thomas. I appreciate the update and any minor touching-up that you feel is needed to make the ZT 0551 a great release! :)

Thanks for the update Thomas! Looking forward to the brick pattern on the Ti side now!

..............One can dream...:D

I would think the release of this knife will aid in the availability of the XM-18.
It might even lower the aftermarket prices as well.

I doubt it. The guys that want a XM18 are still going to want one. Plus there are lots of people that buy knives and don't even visit this website and most likely don't know about the 0551. And last this is not a XM18 clone or copy. It is fairly different in design and size. It is much more similar to another model Rick makes although I don't remember the name.
