New ZT0550 Thread !!!

Dangit, I really wanted this knife :( Had too many bills to take care of first though. If it was me, I wouldn't worry too much about the rust. Kershaw has top-notch customer service and will always strive to make the customer happy!

I hope the other version comes out soon so I can get one!

Everyone who is lamenting missing out on the 0551; please note that there are several dealers who are still pre-selling this model. Check out the Dealer Production Knives forum in the Exchange for some names.

Still waiting on mine.

I know, I'm on several lists. But I was hoping maybe one of these disgruntled guys would sell me theirs and spare me the wait time.

Love all the photos from the other guys here. It makes e feel a little ashamed of my attempts seeing some of the absolutely amazing art shots.

I'm also glad to see a little more clarity on the whole liner issue. Of course, it makes my e-mail to KAI sound a little stupid to know that there was no recall (no phone access today meant no phone call, unfortunately), but that's my fault for not waiting for official word from Thomas.

But after that official word, a careful application of 600 grit sandpaper, a little Mother's Mag Polish, and a good dose of Breakfree CLP to clean off anything left and the protect from future rust, and my liner looks good to go. Would an "I screwed up, sorry and disregard my earlier message" e-mail to KAI CS be appropriate in this case? :o

You've posted some great pics of that 0551 in use my friend!! It's a great knife. My #33 arrived yesterday and I can't say enough good about it. For those with problems, I'm sure issues will be resolved. This was a big project and a little patience goes a long way. Kershaw will leave no customer unsatisfied in the end:thumbup:

Mine will be in my pocket tomorrow for sure. Can't wait to put this knife to use. A big thanks to Thomas, Rick, and Dave. We appreciate all of your hard work on this one!

BTW, Moon....I was gonna take pics of mine with my Carhart that I was wearing in the shop tonight, but you beat me to it!!:D

We have enough ZT threads. Merging this one.

What is the Post # on that 'Gnarly', for those like me who don't have a page 44? :)
Thanks...... ;)

I am still waiting to be contacted by at least one of you guys that are dissatisfied and not happy with your knife.

I want it!!!

I will pay and take it off your hands immediately.

PM or email me... heck do both if you wish. :)

All of you that are dissatisfied can't have just suddenly changed your minds and now have a warm fuzzy feeling.

Maybe nobody here wants to circulate a potentially flawed knife. Warm and fuzzy notwithstanding.

I just bumped a six month old thread in the Hinderer subforum, but after realizing the title of this one,I'll ask here.

Will the 0550 have a choil like the one pictured here?

No. :)

I have to admit that I am interested in trying out the Vanax variant too. It would be the first knife in that steel that I've used.
Are there any additional details on the steel itself with regard to ZTs Heat treat?

Well, curiosity got the better of me.:oI took it apart.
The liners were as I expected,rust/stain free.
I washed everything down with soap & water, dried it thoroughly, applied Tuf-Glide to the pivot & wiped down the liner with a Tuf-cloth.
It's even smoother than before.

It's been in my pocket since I got it yesterday. This really is a production version of an XM-18 if I've ever seen one.If anyone wanted an XM-18 and couldn't get one because of the price tag, this is an ideal alternative.
