New ZT0550 Thread !!!

Thanks for the information RevDevil, now I know how to find my old posts And I appreciate the help.. Teacher my friend, thank you for the link, thats just I needed... Man this knife is Awesome and is shaving sharp, just like a Razor!! I love this knife and the custom made scale is really nice, I've had a lot of people comment on it... I'd like to thank Trix2004 for selling me this custom knife, & if he does any blade work for other people I'd like to get his contact info.... He does good work ....

The cutout "looks thin", but that's really because the titanium lockbar is so obscenely thick, especially when compared to my ZT 0301.

The 0551 is probably the most anticipated and now analyzed knife to hit BF in quite a while.

While conversation can lead to questions about build quality or fit/finish, in the end most everyone is just excited about the piece and it can roll into strong words on occasion.
I even find myself wincing once in a while at the questions/comments, or even the detail/scrutiny the 0551 has been put under. IMO, there was no way the knife was going to live up to the thread(s), but overall I'm happy that most seem more than satisfied with the offering.
I'm still waiting for microscopic images to show off some flaws not to be seen by the naked eye. ;)

I will finish by saying that Rick knows a thing or two about the build on a knife, and ZT has made enough rough & tough Ti frame locks that I would hope there would be little, if any doubts that this folder was built properly. I really can't see any lingering weaknesses that will show themselves even under hard use.

In closing, I want to thank you all for your enthusiastic input and support with the project.

Update: It does look like there has been another delay on the release of Vanax 35, so don't look for the 0550 anytime soon.

Wat?

Oh well, gives me time to pay off the credit card debt from all my Christmas knife shopping;).

Kinda makes me wonder whether the Kershaw Tilt or the ZT 0550 gets out first. Any word on that?

the 0551 is amazing… and i myself am a small sebenza kinda guy, so the 0551 is a huge stepping stone for me using bigger blades. in fact its my first ZT and i couldnt be happier with it.

bummer on the 0550… good thing i got in on the 0551!!!

Thomas-

I want to first say, the 0551 is a great offering! I have few, if any complaints about it at all.
Will either the 0551 or the 0550 be offered in the black DLC in the future? Pardon me if this has been asked/answered in the previous many threads..I have not been able to narrow it down for sure.

Thanks!

Bill

Got mine from Dave last thursday, thanks to Dave,Thomas,Rick and everyone who had a hand bringing this awesome blade to us. I'm looking forward to more of the same. KC

Thomas, can you give us a ballpark time frame on the delay? How many months? How far into 2011 is this going to take us? Thanks for keeping us informed. I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to get the 0551; I'm loving it so far. A definite home run for Zero Tolerance. Thanks!

Hey Thomas,
Any updates on the ZT0551blk yet? The last I saw was you said there may be a change on it but did not see a follow up yet. If I missed it, I appologise. Are we still on track with that one? Any info when we can expect its release?
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas All!

And I am wondering the same thing. :D .. :)
See below.....
I may have got some signals crossed on this version of black blade, let's relax on this till first of the week and I will get my story straight.

Thanks Guys
Dave

Does any one know of an on-line knife dealer that will sell the Zero Tolerance Model 0551 to individuals that live in Upstate, NY (zip 13901 if you are checking)? I DO NOT live in NYC, which do to the boneheaded DA, apparently has issues with assisted opening knives like the 0551.

I know that gpknives.com, Emerson, and the knifecenter.com with not sell this knife to any New York State resident. I am not sure what that is about.

The 0551 is 100% manual - no A/O
