New ZT0550 Thread !!!

I saw that as well bro.Its in the Jan copy with the Hogue/Elishewitz knife, page 73.It appears to be the 0500 because it doesn't have the brick pattern of the 0551.

I haven't seen the add but if it says 0500, it's a typo. The 0500 is the now
disco'ed MUDD.

Its a typo in the copy at the top of the ad. The actual specs at the bottom lists the correct name ZT0550. The pic looks like the proto version.

Here's a little teaser to encourage you go buy the mag. ;)

"Little" is right. It's tiny.

Any updates on this? I feel the urge to buy another knife, but not if this one is coming first:confused:.

I'm hoping for any pattern with orange G10 haha.. black is just so... common..

That's where custom scales come in. Sure it costs a bit more, but you get the satisfaction of having a knife that's one of a kind (unless someone else goes to the same maker and gets the exact same scale done.)

The ZT0551 is due to start shipping sometime next week.

G10 isn't difficult to work with. Maybe I'll get a slab of G10 or Micarta and fit it to this knife.

BarryH's lighting strike CF would be the deal on this knife...

I've been told that while the lists are FULL, there is a 50/50 chance I can get one since the gentleman taking orders is trying to get more in..

Fingers crossed!

As a XM owner, why would you be mad?

It was a joke atony, that blurb like most of my humor, nobody seems to find funny but me. Throughout the long 1st & now 2nd thread a few references have been made that this feature or that feature would make the ZT 0550/0551 look like an XM.

When I read posts that I felt inferred that, I thought "wow, all the guys on a budget that shelled out $6 or $700 for an aftermarket XM-18, might feel like jumping out of a window if this ends up looking like a clone or very close to the XM-18."

I'm not mad, I have an XM and a ZT 0551 coming. It's too bad that so many want an XM-18 or 24 but Rick can only spread himself so thin. Well, the consensus now is that it looks like the "Camp Knife" (1 of 10 made) that I never even heard of.

Lame humor, so excuse it plz if it bugged you. :)

Just looked that up. Those Lightning Strike CF scales are pretty awesome.

As for what I'd put on, I'd get sculpted green canvas micarta or jade/tan G10. If I decide not to get a framelock done on my CQC-11, I'll use the money to get a ZT0550 instead and a custom scale.

Planning on leaving my scales as is, the brick pattern on G10 would be a first for me and I dig it. :) Have to agree with Jesse too, anticipation level is climbing steadily.

My anticipation level isn't climbing anymore , it fell off the backside of Mt. Everest last week. :D:D:D

All this talk about changing the scales on the 0551 is baffling to me. I'm all for tricking out your knives, but to do that to a sprint run just rubs me the wrong way. I'll be pimping out an 0550 once those hit production (thanks to Mr. Clean for bringing up the lightning strike CF, btw), I'm sure, but my 0551 is staying as is.

The thing about the type of mods that people are talking about is that they are totally reversible. If somebody makes a custom scale or pocket clip for their 0551 all they have to do is put the factory scale or clip back on and PRESTO!, the knife is stock again!;) No worries, friend:D
