New ZT0550 Thread !!!

prime77,

I think it's safe for me to say: the only way I could get the edge on mine to look like that is to sell out & move....

..... next door to you or knifenut1013.

Thank you Sir. To be mentioned in the same sentence with knifenut1013 is an honor.

Thanks prime77, but the honor is all yours. You worked for the skill and your efforts have payed off, payed off well if you ask me... excellent work.

Mine came back today from THE KAI Spa ,
Smooth,And the lockup is great.Glad hè"s back:thumbup:

Mine had à sticky lockbar,And wasn't opening smooth even after using it for à while.
But now it"'s great

does anyone know how the thumb studs are put on, are they pressed fit or screwed on. one side of mind has "lap" marks around it. i know it's not a big deal, but would like to change it..you think they would send a couple out?

It's actually a one-piece stud that is pressed through a hole in the blade.

Just got my 0551 in today. Awesome knife and light weight for the size. The only knock I'll give it is that mine has a sticky lockbar like Jef described his having. Not sure I'm going to bother sending mine in to KAI though. I don't really care if I can't flip it open one handed quickly. The blade lock-up is solid with absolutely no play in the blade vertical or side to side and the blade is perfectly centered between the frame when in the closed position. Fit and finish are A+.

What numbers are you guys getting?

I didn't preorder mine until 2/21/11 at bladehq and just want to know if I should be worried about missing out

I just got mine two days ago. #768
I gotta say the lockbar on this thing sticks very badly. I have been working it for the last two days and it's not getting any better. If anything it's getting worse. Sometimes I almost can't get it unlocked.
I've had many framelocks, none of them acted up like this. :thumbdn:

Mine was a little stick as well, I just rubbed some pencil lead on the blade where it contacts the lock face. Seemed to help.

I have done this and it helps for a bit. Then it goes right back to sticking.
I'm going to give it some time and hope it comes around.
Other than the sticky lock bar, and the factory grinds (very uneven) I like the knife.

A little porn for those who are still waiting.:D

Just dab some Sharpie on the tang where the lockbar contact is. You might see a shiny dot on the tang. That will lube it up until it sets.
