Maybe have orange handle/special steel as a limited production to give yourselves time for the real deal :-p

Im curious, how is the blade stop pin held in place on this knife? There doesnt seem to be a drill out hole there on the ti side. Is there a drilled out hole just on the inside of the g10 side and its held in place just be the compression of the handle assembly?

Im talking about the blade stop where the blade rests in the closed position, not the thumbstuds.

On the ZT 030X seres the thumbstud contacts the frame when the blade is in the closed position. (So the thumbstuds limit the blade's travel in the opened and closed positions.)

I would assume that this knife uses the same design.

you can tell that's not the case when closed, like the xm-18

you can see the pin im talking about in this picture. How is it held in place?

this is a ZT i will have to pick up. First knife in a long time that has got me really excited

I see it has one nice beefy pillar in the center. There's something cylindrical in front of it but what it's made of and why it doesn't match the one in the center is beyond me. Why didn't they do 'em all in the same like the center & make it look bad to the bone....gotta big old chunk of polymer backspacer that'll do the job but doesn't say to me "I'm a classy folder." ;)

here is the xm-18

you can see it has a similar blade stop pin, but I think its actually part of the ti handle, I could be wrong though. Just wondering how the ZT's blade stop pin is setup on the prototype. Maybe someone can chime in!

That's what I'm talking about! They don't have to be that beefy but why stick chunks of polymer in the spine instead of SS pillars. Unless Rick doesn't want it to look as good as his XM-18's.

Are you absolutly sure its polymer???? Come on guys...wait until they come out and you put one in your hand before making all kinds of judgements and claims....Believe me when I tell you that I would NOT have anything less when it has MY name on it...And the guys at ZT KNOW how to make a knife and are right there with me with this knife! Guys, sometimes Ive been chuckling when I read some of the posts about "wonder if its gonna be this or I wonder about that" haha because man when you get this knife in your hand you are going to be thrilled!!
One claim and judgement you can count on is that this is one hell of a tough working knife that feels absolutly great in the hand!!

cziv, that little cylidrical thing is the stop pin for the blade when it is closed and it has to be that size....again, wait until you have one in your hand then all of your questions will be answered!! :)

But Rick,

We HAVE to keep talking about it to distract ourselves from the fact that we don't have one in our hands yet...

Hahaha that is true! And I have been carrying my prototype around and using it! So I do tend to forget that you all just have pictures to go by...Well, hey, keep talking about it! I'll try to chime in from time to time to answer what questions I can about the knife...please dont ask me though when it will be available haha ;)

Are there any plans to put any type of finish on the titanium? Such as a flame finish, Rick?

Or any kind of surface texturing at all?

M-T minds are curious...
