...who cares...did you copyright those pictures?

No, he just traveled to Blade, took them, edited them, and uploaded them for our benefit. Who cares? Those of us who weren't able to attend the show and handle the knives in person and who appreciate all the time and hard work put into them do.

...who cares...

Who cares? The photographer that took those pictures and was kind enough to share them. And most other photographers and artists.

did you copyright those pictures?

As a matter of fact he did.

From the US Copyright Office.

A work that was created (fixed in tangible form for the first time) on or after January 1, 1978, is automatically protected from the moment of its creation and is ordinarily given a term enduring for the author’s life plus an additional 70 years after the author’s death.

That new ZT is a definite must have. Man what a great looking knife and an awesome collaboration. Should have been in the works a long time ago. I can't wait for that bad boy to come out!

And also, I'll echo everyone else's sentiments that we all should care that the members photos were used without permission. He was nice enough to take them and upload them for us!

I care, as do many other people in this thread. I can tell you're going to be a real winner on BF after a post like that.

I operate websites for a living like many here do. When people use my images on evilBay I just threaten to turn them into their ISP and webhost and they alaways comply with an apology. This guy's really arrogant though in this ZT 0550 incident.

Here's the deal. The guy who posted the pics on the other forum and then here shouldn't have done it. He should have "upon request from the owner" taken them down immediately. If not there are cut and dry legal rules that I've stored. I've seen only one case where a lower court awarded money for stolen images but there may be more that I haven't heard about (there's probably more):

Copyright registration is required to pursue action in federal court. Copyright infringement actions are a matter of exclusive federal pre-emption. Expecting to succeed in a small claims action is not realistic. Had you had a contract and were not paid, that's a different scenario.

Under the laws, including the DMCA, if you can show copyright ownership, you can ask for a "take-down." Because of this, and the potential for negative publicity, the general hassle of dealing with "problems," you should be able to succeed with direct contacts. They might issue a "correction." The chance of getting paid is limited.

You can't take up a claim for copyright infringement in federal court if the image is not registered. You can take up a claim in small claims court, though.

There's always a "banned" measure that can be taken against the offending member.

Signed off a 500 piece sprint run on Friday. We have some of the new ELMAX steel we can utilize. There are still some design changes we need to go over with Rick, and a few details need to be ironed out, but I'd imagine those will be taken care of in short order. Lets say late Sept/early Oct. on these. I don't have a price yet, but it will be in the $225-$250 range.

Alright Thomas! I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas - every day feels like a year! :D

This is the most I've ever anticipated a new knife. Great materials, great proven Kershaw build quality, and great names attached to it. Oh yeah, a likely under $200 street price. This is the best knife of the year in my opinion.

Thanks Thomas!

This sounds like a sprint run that will disappear fast!
I wonder if 500 will be enough to hold everyone over until the regular production? :D
