New ZT0550!!!

You see it sitting their next to that ZT0300 and the pivot looks puny.

Call me silly, but I would like to see something a tad bigger... :p

I agree, I would like to see something other than the standard Kershaw pivot used in the Tyrade/0350/Volt/Etc, something beefier like how Rick makes his knives.

Also that blade does not look .156, it appears thinner than the 0300 blade :grumpy:

Come on Thomas and Rick, bump this bad boy up to Hinderer standards! It needs a beefier pivot and a thicker blade than the 0350!!!

That knife looks great! I also hope we get stonewashed blades. I have had my PT back less than 3 months and its already developed blade play when opened again! I look forward to this bomb proof knife with ZT/Kershaw quality. I have two ZTs (301 & 200) and will buy from them over the "other" company which seems so unconcerned about the poor quality of the product they deliver to it's customers. Thank you for bringing a worthy competitor to market!!!!

The size of the pivot is still not going to stop me from buying this knife.

That's just me grumbling about something trivial that I would like to see changed is all... :foot:

The fit and finish on the jimping and frame lock looks excellent! I'm am however getting depressed to see that the blade length is almost exactly the same between the 300 and the 550 (or so it appears in the pictures). I was really hoping that it would have a bit shorter blade. I am happy to see that the blade is thinner than the 300 though. That should make it a much more efficient cutter. I agree that it would look cool with the 300's bolt pivot but only for the cool factor. I've never broken a pivot on any knife ever so, to me, its just a looks thing. Looks like a very cool design, I'll probably pick one up when they come out. I was really hoping the blade length would be a little bit short but thats, of course, just my personal preference and can always be changed on mine as I see fit. Looks great keep up the good work Thomas!

A quote from Rick...
Come on guys...wait until they come out and you put one in your hand before making all kinds of judgements and claims....Believe me when I tell you that I would NOT have anything less when it has MY name on it...And the guys at ZT KNOW how to make a knife and are right there with me with this knife! Guys, sometimes Ive been chuckling when I read some of the posts about "wonder if its gonna be this or I wonder about that" haha because man when you get this knife in your hand you are going to be thrilled!!
One claim and judgement you can count on is that this is one hell of a tough working knife that feels absolutly great in the hand!!

I don't pretend to know what the compensation or financial agreements are with these MFG/knifemaker collaborations and if there is even a royalty involved for sales but all that conspiracy rubbish aside, I'm going to just take Rick's and Thomas's/Kershaw's word for it on this knife. Both of these two men and this company are sages in this industry and deserve my faith. And I'm not going to end this with any pretentious "but" either. Just get this knife to market already! And don't only offer a coated blade either :D

I'm sure this knife is everything it appears to be plus some simply based on its lineage. The sexy, apt looks are just the icing . . .

I WANT ONE NAO! This is the first knife I'm saving funds especially for; it will be a special day when it arrives on my doorstep!

I was really hoping that it would have a bit shorter blade.

Bite your tongue! :D What's up with all of this little bitty blade stuff lately on the forum? We're knife guys right? "Size" does matter.

I just got a ZT 301 advertised as 3 3/4" but no way it measures more than 3.5 on my ruler. My tiny BM 940's blade is barely undetectable in blade length. It's just not an 1.5" - 2" from spine to edge! yippee.....!

Finished up all the paperwork, it's officially on the factory floor schedule.

Thanks Thomas! I'm sure this knife will impress everyone once out and available. I do have a question, unrelated to release dates, price points, etc. Will the design itself be offered in various steels? Or will this be a one shot, one steel deal?
In other words, will we receive say an S##V version, a D2 composite version, etc? I would really hope so, but it all depends on initial reception and demand (I know).

Heaven forbid a composite blade!! Otherwise, +1 What he said Thomas :)

I'm only wondering about the length specs., weight and whether it will come out with coated, stonewash or satin blade. Hoping you'll post a pic of the first one/s. This is exciting. :D

I know there will be a minimum of at least 2 variations. :) The ELMAX and the Vanax versions. After that who knows...

I'll see about taking some pictures of the process. I don't have specs in front of me, but will post them soon.

The ELMAX variation will incorporate a stonewashed finish, and a standard backspacer. Looks like we will build around 900 pieces.

Oh yea, Rick made a design change (Shhhh....it's a secret).

What?...I can't tell everything.

MSRP will be $250

That's cruel and unsual of you, Thomas!
