This is the best news in a longtime IMO.

Just because Im picky; I wish it was even more faithful to the real hinderer design with a very thin titanium liner on the G10 side and a protruding flipper . If not, then lets be real, the 0301 isn't, sadly, much less of a hinderer/ZT/strider collabo. At least, not by leaps and bounds. Ok the grind, aesthetics and ergos are more hindererish on the 0550, but mechanically speaking, (with the spring removed), the 0301 is mechanically/structurally more similar to the xm-18 then the 0550. Im hoping this isnt the case with the final production version. But again, that's just cause im picky.

It's called a collaboration for a reason. You take a bit from Rick Hinderer and you take a bit from ZT. It's not an XM-18. If you're looking for an XM-18 then you should probably buy an XM-18. This is just going to be another kickass ZT with Rick's influence.... which you can plainly see.

No one said it was to be a XM18 clone. RH can design more than one knife, the XM18 just happens to be his most popular.

This is just something that ZT and RH came up with for a production knife. It is what it is and isn't supposed to be a copy of anything else.

This is the first high end new offering that is not from Spyderco that I may have to give a try in a long time! No recurve (at least descernable) and sexy looking albeit a bit more tactical than I have been into lately. AWESOME! If the production versions include an uncoated blade like the first picture posted I'm definitley going to try one out. Has there been an MSRP number dropped yet?

Nice :)

Nice :)

somebody said they say 250

i hope they adjust the choil prior to production....it should come right up to the frame. besides that it look pretty nice.

I think I just found my first ZT

And I may just be going back :) I had all three 030X's and two 0200's at one time but their daily usefulness to me just wasn't there so I sold all of them. One key with me trying this one is a more useful blade profile for sure . . . Dear Lord, please keep this knife from being AO. Amen.

I will buy it!

I fixed your post :D

That looks like a great design. Couldn't help but notice the lack of a recurve, this could be a good thing. I'm just not a huge fan of the recurve, especially when it comes to sharpening.

Well, I own a 0200 and I really like the quality. I was about to pull the trigger on a Benchmade 755 this week but I shall have to hold back the funds for this one. Its about time ZT came out with another model. This one looks like a futre EDC/duty knife for me.

What do we know about VANAX 35 steel?

I have never even heard of it before....

I seen a post a while back ( I can't remember who or what thread) of
someone who had a custom fixed blade with Vanax 35. He said it
retains it's edge similar to S30V, is a little easier to sharpen and a
little more corrosion resistant.

One things for sure, we'll know when it hits the streets.

Hmmm, I wonder what that means in a MAP pricing world then?

does kershaw use a MAPP system? i dont think so. unless they just implemented it.
for example the MSRP of the ZT 0301 is 295 but i have seen it online at dealers for 235. which is about 20% less than MSRP, so that would be about a 200 dollar street price in the 550

Yeah, I didn't even notice the choil until you mentioned it. It seems a little too small to be a forward choil for a choked up grip, but way too large to be a sharpening choil. I'll still take it either way. :D
