New ZT0550!!!

The 0500 was just a little too funky for me. While I like the fact that it's not a recurve, I still haven't warmed up to the overall look of the knife. Maybe it was the handle? Maybe it was the swedge overkill. Maybe it was the massive thumb studs? *shrug*

This 0550, on the other hand, was absolute love at first sight! There is NOTHING that I don't like about this knife. For me personally, it's perfect! :)

Handled one & I liked it a lot. No AO or Recurves, just a beefy frame-lock. The screwdriver pommel gadget can jab you in certain grips though. Figure if I get one I might get that ground off or a new backspacer made.

I didn't even notice the screwdriver till you mentioned it. I don't think it's nothing I can't handle with a dremel though.

I believe we've opted on a regular back spacer, but there will be probably be a variation that incorporates the pictured one. I'm sure there will be multiple blade finishes as well.

To beat everyone's next question, no I don't have an ETA as of today.

A couple shots for you enjoyment.

Thomas, any comment on Vanax 35 choice? You mentioned Vanax 75 was chosen for stain resistance, how about 35?

any ETA? I sort of promised the mrs. I was only buying three more knives this year unless something really great came up, and, well...

yep...this one may qualify for the exception.

I normally don't care for framelocks, but this one...hmmm. ZT and Hinderer is hard to pass up.

This is absolutely my next Kershaw.

Thanks for the pics, everyone. Oh ... and especially Thomas W (always good when he drops by).:)

Great looking knife , serously.

Two wishes... Make it a flipper for wish one , put that choil away and give us another 1/4 inch of blade edge for wish two.

Otherwise I really like the looks of this new ZT offering.

I'm all over this knife if they offer a stonewash or other uncoated, non bead blasted finish for the blade. I'm pretty excited about this and it it feels good to feel that way about ZT again ;) I've never had anything bad to say bout them in the first place - just the weight and the recurved, big bellied blades with AO is about all I really had to pass on. They make a heck of a knife for sure.

Any chance of getting the lockbar 'cutout', to make it thinner to flex easier, moved to the outside instead of the inside? I thought Mr. Hinderer did it that way and that there was good reason from a strength and engineering standpoint. Since the applied force wants to travel down that inside edge which abruptly stops in the current configuration and then has to travel around the cutout.

Is that composite blade 0350 available? Or going to be available?

Thomas, can you comment on the weight of this knife?

I realize that it may be too early to give out specifics, but will it at least be lighter than the ZT 0200 and ZT 0300 series knives?

Im also surprised that it isn't any larger, was hoping for a 3.75"-4" blade

Thank for the pics thomas, your like a crack dealer giving us our next fix! The ETA better be soon, or im goin to rehab!
