New ZT0550!!!

Oh bugger.
I just bought a small sebenza (coming today), and i'm already looking at a new Ti frame-lock.

Sorry, I'm jumping on this thread a bit late, and am not through the 30 pages yet.
Is there an estimated release date? The sebenza seems to be my gateway drug to high-end knives, and this one is on the table for my next. Sort of a better-looking (IMO) alternative to a strider SNG. Both have similar half frame-lock titanium, half composite material constructions; both have Hinderer lock stops, and both have similar blade-integrated choil designs.

I gotta start selling some of the stuff lying around my place.

This looks like a good-sized tough knife. Only question is to whoever has handled the prototype: Is the choil functional? it looked a bit small.

Edit: So i've gone through the first 30 pages...
If i've read correctly, the current run coming out (soon) will have the ELMAX steel, and will be a smaller spring run... Please correct me if i'm wrong.
So, my question is, will the final run be exclusively the planned VANAX 35 steel, or will there be a continuous production of both blade steels?

Also, to Thomas W: how long is the expected time window between the run you're currently doing, and the final production version of this knife? And Will This be a continuous production knife?

(Could anyone who knows, email me through the forums where i could pre-order one? i can't seem to find it.)

seems a bit blown out of proportion...
the cutout on the inside allows for a much cleaner look in my opinion, but even if it were on the outside i dont think it would THAT much of an aesthetic flaw.

what was said about ease of removal from the pocket makes perfect sense though, ive experienced the same issue with other knives.
i hope disassembly wont be an issue regarding the warranty, as id like to torch the frame to get a rainbow effect...or does anyone know where it can be sent to be stonewashed like the frames of the XM-18's?

I was referring to the 3/8-inch hex head pivot shaft nut that is on the ZT300 series. It looks awesome but is also the opposite of what I think of as 'refined'.

If there were anything I'd like to see on this knife, it would be a little variation in colors for the scales. I'm finding it hard to justify adding another satin/black G10 or black/black folder to my assortment.

If all else fails, you can always send the Ti to someone that can do color anodizing. There is a Sage 2 with some coloring and a fizzle type of effect, looks very cool.

Here's another small hint guys pertaining to the design changes for the 0550.........There will be a liner under the G-10!....:)

I'd be happy either way, but it is definitely a plus.

So looking forward to this one.

That is excellent news Rick. This is looking more and more like a production XM...

I know one thing...I won't be getting one.

Two or three maybe...but not just one.

Imbedded liner...Nice!!
Will this liner be steel or Titanium? Just wondering. :)
Thanks for the extra info. gw

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW small looking pivot, guess I'll hold out and try to get my hands on a 3.5 Xm-18 flipper.

Ok Bill86, just for you we have changed the 0550 Pivot diameter from .187 to .218.

Pat yourself on the back, and take the weekend off.

I like this knife. I will have to get one of these. Thank goodness its not speedsafe....I know many like it, but I just dont. This will be the first Kershaw in a long time for me.
