Thats good you got on the pre-order list

banana-clip,

Congrats on the 1000th post on this thread. I was hoping to be the one but had to go do some yard work.

Given that Thomas promised to give away a knife to someone who's posted on the thread, I thought being #1000 just might be the lucky number.

Yours would still be a very good position to be in if you think of it like The Price is Right and win by bidding (or in this case posting) 1 over the likely winning number. ;)

Thanks, I didn't even think of it like that, but i guess its cool to have the 1,000 post. :D

Im just so excited about this knife and check this thread several times a day for any updates or pics or any new news. :D

Dang, I need to get around to getting that video done!....:)....and no the 0550 wont be made into a flipper as the design does not allow it.....however..;)....as the tv show says..."Stay tuned"! ;)...We WONT disapoint!! :)

Rick Hinderer

It was s impressive I must tell :)

I was out with my brother today when we decided to stop and get something to eat. Prior to this he was showing me his knife (0350 CB) because he had taken it apart for the first time. He did good too considering its the first knife he's ever taken apart. So when we arrived he forgot to put the knife back in his pocket and it fell from his lap when he got out of the car. Somehow in mid fall the knife opened and landed point first into the blacktop. If the knife was not handle heavy it would have stuck in the blacktop too, but the weight pulled it over and only with the best of luck did it happen to land edge first :(

When he picked it up he started laughing, I didn't think it was very funny though..... guess who sharpenes his knives...

He was laughing because it did almost nothing to the edge or tip, there was some blacktop stuck to the tip but ZERO visible damage. The part of the edge that made direct contact also looked perfect but did have and ever so small deformation.

So there it is, Elmax 1 blacktop 0

This steel seems to be showing ever impressing qualitys, can't wait for my 551 :)

Nothing impressive but anyone that has dropped a knife point first into the ground knows just how impressive a result like this can be.

I know exactly what you're talking about here :-( About 2months ago I was reaching for a grocery bag falling from my cart in the parking lot and my S30V Blur fell out, opened, and landed tip down.

It chipped the very tip off, it was just a little bit, and I mean little, but man did it ever piss me off. Every time I opened the knife until about 1week ago, it bothered me. It only stopped bothering me because I re-profiled the blade to get the point back.

Hmmm nice design, but the original XM-18 is MUUUCH better :)
how can I buy one?

So the elmax is "better" steel than the vanax?

No, the Elmax sprint run version is just going to be made first due to the demand for this knife and the fact that KAI has readily available Elmax steel to produce the sprint run. The Vanax isn't readily available yet and Thomas said that the Vanax was hell on their grinders. Once those issues are no longer issues, I'm sure we'll see the Vanax version.

As I read and re-read this, I keep hearing a small voice asking over and over "Are we there yet?"

I hope not. I haven't got a confirmation from him yet. He didn't say it was full when he emailed me the price though.

Sorry guys , I have been slammed. I should now be all caught up with emails and additions to preorder list, so if you have not heard from me please try again. There is still room at the Inn. The excitement over this knife is amazing !!
