Is that the final finish on the blade?
Should be absolutely NO problem getting to that number.
With the offer of a drawing for one of these great designs and now some t-shirts its a done deal.
In fact its on 14 away as I post this.
For some reason I feel the need right about now to send a huge thank you to Thomas and to Rick. Thank you guys for the pics, the info, and the potential giveaways. I know this was a guaranteed hit from the beginning, but I doubt the anticipation and excitement would've gotten to this point (67,336 views and 1,227 posts not counting this one, as I type this) without the two of you actually coming on here and giving us the little morsels to whet our appetites. Not to mention the carrot-dangling with the video promise, the knife giveaway, and now the potential handout of Hinderer T-shirts...
This is going to be an awesome product, and I know from what's been said it's only the first collaboration between Rick Hinderer and Zero Tolerance, but here's to hoping it's not just the first of a few, but the first of many. Thanks again guys!
Now, how about getting those knives done and in our greedy little hands?(I had to do it)
Really? From what I could gather, the only thing anyone would say for sure about it was that it's more stain resistant than S30V.Sorry I am a ZT/Kershaw idiot ... I have read a lot of this thread and searched it but I still have a list of stupid questions, so I will just throw them all into one thread...
1. what's the blade thickness? Looks like the 350 is .121'', so is the 550/551 the same?
2. Sounds like the Elmax outperforms S30V in most or all of the areas where S30V was designed to excel ... anyone have any idea how it compares to S90V? (edge retention, toughness, strength, ease of re-sharpening, corrosion resistance)
3. this may be a really dumb one, but I want to be sure for California legal reasons ... I saw that this is a full manual mechanism ... does that mean what it sounds like? Totally manual?
I would expect Elmax to be Bohler's version of S30V.From what I have seen Elmax does much better than S30V, look at some of my previous posts in this thread.
My remark about S30V was based on reading knifenut's comments and I think I saw some other remarks about elmax vs. S30V. Knifenut, do you have anywhere where you wrote more about your tests and results? I have just started looking into elmax but it looks like there isn't a lot out there on it. I've been trying to figure out what folder-steel is for me, and it seems like most of the steels that surpass S30V (e.g. S90V and ZDP-189) have the drawback of being difficult to re-sharpen, which is something that is a concern to me.
