New ZT's for 2017 what do you love?

Hope the 5 new releases aren't the end though.. was hoping for some phosphor bronze models built like the zt300 series, the 0620/0630 and 0200. Was really hoping something along the lines of a strider collab but oh well😞

Admittedly, some of the new Kershaws are neat looking, and I could see myself picking up one or two, just because they're neat and won't be a lot of money, so if I don't like 'em, no big deal. That Pub looks neat.

A knife that is designed to look better than it is to function as a cutting tool. E.g. handle of the 0055 and the back spacer of the 0850. Not that they look particularly good or "artsy" to me.

I see. Have you handled the 0055? While I could take or leave the backspacer on the 0850, it certainly looks like a very functional blade. Like most people, I love some ZT's, find others to be just ok, and have no desire to own others. I find the tendency of some to trash them completely to be...odd.

Behold! The best new folding knife release from Kai this year!

ZT0850 is expensize but may be interesting for me.
I like the ZT0801Ti but I would prefer a better steel.

Yeah, I can see myself picking up a Deadline just to see what the tuned detent is all about (and because wharncliffes are always handy), but this is yet another year where I'll be giving ZT a miss if this is all they got. Oh, and the CQC-10/11K could easily become gifts for a couple friends that have seen me wave knives out of pocket and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

I will likely be getting the 0055, the 0460, and the 0850, at least to try them out. I've always been a sucker for Sinkevich's work, and I've never been able to afford a GTC piece.

Personally I am very excited for this year.

I actually really like ZT. My most recent purchase was a ZT and I love it. Won't stop me from speaking my mind on what I see though. I too Love some, hate some, and some are so-so.

As to the 0055, no I have not handled it. But I do not need to handle it to know that the milling was done as "art". Sure the ridges will add grip, but the Mona Lisa could soak up a spilled soda too.

And just to be clear, I am let down precisely because I have come to like ZT so much in the last year. The 0562CF might just be my favorite all-around carry knife. It's in my pocked right now. I don't hate ZT, they're just down the highway from me and I love their work and the fact that they make great knives in my home state.

That's why I'm so disappointed. They could easily have done some good work this year, but if this lineup is all there is, they just didn't. Maybe they're saving some stuff for Blade Show. Let's hope so.

I prefer knives that look good (to my eye) and function well, ideally. I suppose I was reading your comments to imply that you subtract "points" for looking "artsy," regardless of the functionality. My apologies if I inferred what wasn't implied.

The 0460 is probably the closest thing we will ever get to the CKF Sablya or SInkevich Polutchotkiy.

Well, good is subjective. I expect these knives will function just as well as any other ZT, with the F&F to back them up.

I think I would carry the new 920 by Les George. I am less confident about the others even though the LOOKS of them are appealing.

No apologies necessary! I too like a good looking knife but looks that are derived from function. Take the 0920 vs the 0055, 0920 has milling that adds a functional embellishment to the knife without compromising the functionality of the design. The handle of the 0055 looks like a bucket of hot spots! Now the 0920 isn't my favorite either but I think it helps exemplify my point.

The designs may be a little artsy but certainly not art knives, especially the 0920 and 0850 and I'm not gonna be owning a GTC anytime soon so to get his design with ZT's price and quality is really appealing.
