New ZT's for 2017 what do you love?

I see them doing a carbon fiber leek, I've been waiting for another premium blur to be honest. It's been awhile since they've done one with carbon fiber or twill inlays.

Non collector types absolutely love speedsafe. I know several people who think a knife is hard to use or cheap if it isn't assisted.

to each their own. I feel it's cheap when it's done, shows that they didn't put enough time and effort into design to make smooth action ($20 rat's anyone?). It's like, can't open the blade smoothly since we didn't dial in the detente and have crappy tolerances? SPEEDSAFE/ASSIST IT! That's just my take. The only knives from either company I really wanted to love where the 0450 and 0452, but they were also flawed in one way or another.

ZT/Kershaw/KAI has a habit of ignoring what customers want, instead they go off on wild tangents at times to make new designs and products and gimmicks that they THINK people want (the atrocious speedsafe anyone?), granted some people like what they do, but there are a lot that don't. It got to the point that there were so many customer complaints about issues with their knives and their designs that they removed themselves from these forums, go look at the archives if you don't believe me. I sold off all of my ZT and working on offloading all of my other KAI knives, they are not built as practical, strong, and functional edc knives, no matter what their motto tries to say. Sorry if I'm stepping on toes.

I'm struggling to respond to this without inviting an infraction. I'll just say that you are wrong about literally everything you wrote. Everything. I like some of their stuff, and some not at all. The idea that they don't know their market is just ludicrous. As was just pointed out, SpeedSafe is hugely popular, particularly in the Kershaw buying demographic. They haven't become as successful as they are by ignoring their market's wishes.

Wow, so much hate and so much incorrect information.

Just buy what you like...don't buy what you don't like.

As for the many incorrect "facts" in this thread, I'm too tired to be bothered (3 hours sleep), and no one would bother listening anyway. ;)

I feel like Schultz from hogans heroes; I see nothing ! That gtc blade is so far away from what I like in a blade, everything else does nothing for me. guess I wont be spending any money on Kershaw/zt this year....

These type of threads always attract ZT haters lol

Indeed.

I can say that the new models aren't really grabbing me (one looked okay, but I forget the model number), but they still have a bunch of others being produced that I do like.

2017 seems to be the year of people on Bladeforums hating the entire line-up of most manufacturers.
Zero Tolerance, Spyderco, Benchmade...they're all getting a bunch of dislike from people who like disliking things. :D

Personally, I'll be picking up the 4 new ones from ZT this year. I love the direction they're going contrary to what seems to be the majority opinion. *shrugs*

ZT is my favorite brand... and I'm extremely disappointing and will not buy anything from the ZT line up of this year. However, most other 2017 major knife company line ups, there are at least a few knives I could see me liking, but not any from my favorite knife brand...

I'm glad I can instill the need for you to attack me based on my opinion and certain facts that are true. I'm not wrong on everything I wrote, that's just you wanting to defend a brand you love, while being blind to the issues. I could post so many professional reviews, as well as buyer reviews, personal experience, and complaints that back up everything that I said, but none of that matters to you, right? If people want to ignore the facts in their face, that's fine, their favorites knives might be all kershaw and ZT, good on them. As far as speedsafe, I'm not denying that it's hugely popular, never once said it wasn't popular, and in fact it has its uses, such as someone with arthritis, so that it's easier to open, but it's super overused and leaves people that absolutely hate it with no alternative (inside their brand that is). Why would you intentionally cut off that much of the knife market to use such a love/hate gimmick on almost every knife you produce? These are valid questions yet you'd rather attack the person asking them and causing people to look at more than the knife they are interested in.

Wow, I have to admit I did not think I'd look at all the new designs and not be impressed with a single one from ZT this year. None of them IMO have any "mainstream" type of utilitarian use, it appears they've gone the artsy/aesthetics over function this year. The 0850 being the exception but $400 for that is ridiculous. I guess technically the 801Ti isn't bad but that's just a sprint run. That said, while people that really valued ZT's old design focus are probably turned off by what they are doing now, there's probably lots of people that didn't like the old tactical/utility/hard use focus they used to have that are interested in these new "unique" designs.

The carbon fiber Leek looks cool. I have the S30V G10 one. Most of the handles on the new models look uncomfortable or awkward and some of those blade shapes don't look like they're designed for utility. Removing some of the superfluous curves and smoothing some edges would have made them look better. Not having so many bumps and weird handle outline shapes would have been more to my liking. Maybe next year.

The vast majority of consumers love speedsafe and keep buying models with it.

Speedsafe sells and I don't think that's an example of KAI not listening to its customers.

I was quite careful to not attack you personally. I said that every single substantive statement you made was wrong. They are - all of them. I haven't bought a ZT in two years (though I probably will this year). I regularly express my disdain for certain of their offerings on the forum where they have a presence. Others do as well. Funny thing is, when it's done rationally and not accompanied by idiotic assertions of knowing their business better than they do, there's no drama. Yes, everything you said is wrong, though you may well be a lovely human being.

I just noticed the pics on bhq, and i gotta say they are much more inspiring than last year. The gtc, 850, 0460 are all immediately appealing.

I'm surprised at the amount of nagativity but to each his own have to add the 0920 to my list of most anticipated ZTwill be getting g some of my $ this year

I do like the 0055 and will probably pick one up. I always found something fascinating about GTC knives.
