This is the thread to post the photos of your Newbie KITH knives when you are done and ready to enter the KITH.

Post "I'm Ready" ,and then attach the photo(s) of your knife.

Give any description of it and the materials you wish.

I will place your entry in the file where the names will be drawn.
On December 1, I will print shipping labels for all who have completed their knives and email your recipients info to you. You can print that out, and put the address on your box. The knives should go out in the post within a few days of the labels being received . I recommend using a Medium Flat Rate box, and insuring the knife for the value ( $50-$200). Get delivery confirmation with a tracking number.

If a knife photo is not posted in this thread, (or I have not been contacted about your entry being ready), you will not be in the final group.......

so get those knives finished, get a shipping box ready, and post your photos and "I'm Ready" here.

I have to chyme in... This is going to be a great KITH, I wish there was one last year. Geek that looks like a well crafted entry.

Matt, That knife is beautiful! Very well done

Not the prettiest grind lines by any means, but the ebony handle on this kitchen knife is sweet! Blade is S30V, handle is ebony with CA finish.

Considering a small walnut cutting board to go with this, maybe 6x8.

Thanks for the kind words Ryan! It has been loads of fun.

Well... "I'M READY!!!" WOOOO! Feels so good to be done, and I couldn't be happier with the results. This feels like my best knife to date, both model wise and finish wise. This KITH really made me go all out and pay as much attention as I possibly could, I learned a lot of patience hand-sanding :D

I'm going to add a small gift box to mine but I'm Ready
Here's the knife and sheath.
3/16" 1080 from Kelly Cupples, my heat treat to ~58.
Blade is a variation of my Lycaon pattern with a slightly more angular profile to the edge. It's a single sided grind with a double sided secondary bevel at 30 degrees for heavy duty use.
Handle is bocote with 3/16 mosaic in front and 1/4 stainless tube in back.
The sheath is black kydex, I just took these pics and the sunset gives quite a warm light.
The whole thing is waxed for protection and appearances. I suggest whoever gets it just rewax as needed, it's a nice easy protection that holds up well and you don't have to worry about getting it on things.

sharp knife, in more ways than one .
that is 5 done, with 2 weeks to go.

I will note that mine got changed very slightly. the blade is now 600 grit and the handle had to get redone becuase of some scratches.

How does the single sided grind cut? I've got a big chopper that I'm going to be making for a buddy, and was thinking that it might be better than a double sided cannel grind.

In normal use there's no difference, your actual angle is the same, it's just a question of how it is angled relative to the hand. For anything used for chopping I'd go with a double so it stays in line with the hand, the single sided will give a bit of sideways torque on impact. I don't think it's suitable for chopping or batoning.

I must say, rock, I showed your knife to my dad and he drooled on my keyboard. are you sure you posted in the right thread?
