Newly Discontinued ZTs

Hadn't seen anything on this yet so thought I would share. My local knife dealer recently posted a picture on his facebook of a notice from ZT about several models that are being discontinued, these were on the list:

0100
0160
0200
0200ST
0300
0300BW
0300ST
0301ST
0550
0560
0561

I have to say that some of those are surprising. Seems like some of their bread and butter folders. I have no stake in ZT and am not generally a fan of most of their designs but the 0300 was on my someday list. Apologies if this has been covered already.
 
I check Dave's site everyday and noticed this list earlier today. I know they're making room for more projects and designs, but I'm going to miss seeing some of these in production, especially the 0550.

ETA: Let's try not to get this shut down, eh guys?
 
Thomas did tell us in a post here that the 0200/0300 series would be going away. Sad news as it is one of my favorite knives. I might have to try and stock up on one more of each, dang. :(
 
Both Knives Ship Free and Knife Center have these old ZT models for sale. Quite possible that they're not selling much since MAP enforcement. The 0350 is not amongst them and it's an old model but with 20 varieties released it still sells.

None of the newer models are included: 0770CF, 0566, 0801, 0562, 0620.

There's a serious lack of supplies for the popular 0562 and 0620 series. Hopefully, they're ramping up production on those.

Quite possible we'll see some big new folders at the SHOT Show because from what remains they're either 3.25" or 3.5" blade lengths.

It's really difficult to believe the 0560 & 0550 are being discontinued. I know they recently updated the 0550 with a steel lockbar insert, but I don't think they updated the 0560. I may have to pick up an 0560 to go with my 0561.

I believe Stabman has an 0560/1 with the lockbar insert. I know what you mean, though. Like RamZar said, it might have to do with the fact that people aren't willing to shell out what they're asking for these days. ZTs remain outstanding knives.
 
Well damn..

Been wanting a 0200, but couldn't quite get over the cost.
Given the price drop, I am now $125 poorer, but won't miss out on a blade I have been wanting..

About the only one I don't see on sale is 0560BW. By the way, some of the newer releases of that model have the steel lockbar inserts.

Remember the 0300 and 0200 series have been around since the introduction of the ZT line back in 2006.

Hope we'll see some new models in the 3.75"-4" blade lengths using KVT and dual models like 0562/0562CF & 0620/0620CF one with Elmax/G-10 and the other with M390/CF.
 
0560 & 550 going away? What exactly is ZT thinking? Do they really sell that poorly? This makes me sad...
 
Add BladeHQ, GPKnives and KnifeWorks to the list of ZT dealers with blowout prices on these discontinued models. Some of the prices are even lower than the lowest pre-MAP enforcement prices.

You know, I think mine does! I'll double-check when I get home. I love, LOVE the 0561, and I wanted it for so long...but the 0562 showed up one day and that's been in my pocket ever since.
 
Everything on that list except the 0560 and the 0550 is from 2006. I think 8 years is a plenty long enough lifespan. I think the 0562 made the 560/550 redundant.

The facility can only make so many knives, its not like they have unlimited capacity.

I mean I guess they could just rest on their laurels and only put out one new knife a year but then we'd be dealing with threads titled 'how come zt doesn't release more new models'.
 
I believe next year, outside of the 0350, the 0801 will be the oldest knife in the lineup. That's pretty exciting. Can't wait to see what replaces these!
 
At least they're keeping the 0301 if you fancy the 300 series and don't mind the tiger stripe.

I like the tiger stripe pattern. I had one but gave it away...can't remember to who but I remember they really wanted one. :p

Wow, discontinuing the 200 & 300 line that put them on the map, always wanted a 200 but I'll have to pass.

I am sad about the 560 - great knife.

I bet they have access to some sort of profit and sales reporting that might be influencing their decisions regarding what models they want to sell.

I am betting that they made the decision based on facts and data, and not their sentimental feelings for the knife.

I am glad I have some really nice examples of the 560 though - it is a real honey of a folder.
