Next to bed knife?

Hardly. You just don't like hearing from someone who actually knows about these things and told you're wrong. But if name calling makes you feel better, I can handle it.

Gentlemen,

Is the topic of this thread about whether working the action of a pump shotgun scary? The answer is NO. Stay on topic or don't post.

Thanks

Jason

I always have a blade under or by my pillow. The Tanto Lite is my top choice. I also sometimes have the Gurkha Kukri, one of the Leathernecks, Recon Tantos, GI Tanto or Shanghai Shadow.

Here is the only knife other than those I will use for this purpose.

It's special to me. I have no idea why. There are no special stories I have about it and no special circumstances involving how I got it.

My Smith and Wesson 29 44 mag loaded with 240gr simi wad cutters loaded at 1000 fps. They mushroom out to the size of a quarter before exiting the unlucky adventurous uninvited and now dead person. If I have to use a knife so I don't wake the neighbors, its a Scharade sch3.

A SOG Seal Pup Elite...I know that it sounds a bit underwhelming but the reason is because this knife quickly became my go-to utility knife for around the house use and I'm SO use to using it now that its like an extension of my hand...no fumbling around with it in the dark.

I bought this knife a few years ago on a whim and had very low expectations for it even though I really like SOG's Tech Bowie and the SOG Super Bowie. Much to my surprise I now use it more than any other fixed blade I own...it holds an edge very well, is easy to sharpen and IF I ever broke it while using it for something it wasn't intended its easily and cheaply replaced.

Right now I keep my Spyderco Techno (my normal EDC) next to my bed, along with a Mora Craftline as a "just-in-case" knife. I'll replace the Mora with a better, more "tactical" fixed blade once I get one, but I'm sure it would work well enough in an emergency situation.

I keep my bug out bag next to my bed and that has lots of knives on it and on my night stand is my spyderco persistence and (edc blade) along with any thing else I was using that day. I also have a box of them under my bed for storage.
