NFL Playoffs.....Who do you like?

Didn't someone say the Bronco's were going to ream our Seahawks? Defenses win championships baby.....

Yup, and I firmly believed they would. But holy fu**ing sh** that was one pathetic super bowl. I'll blame this again on that damn rat in Pennsylvania seeing his shadow yesterday.

From the first snap of the game where Helen Keller could have done better to everything else about it.

Offensive line sucked, receivers weren't coming back to the ball, special teams were short bus special. Peyton was far from Peyton. The Broncos played so damn bad it's hard to imagine they weren't paid to take a dive. Again, one pathetic super bowl.

As for defense wins championships? BS. Teams win championships. The Seahawks I hate saying just because of the loud mouths on the team, the shady Pete Carrol bastard, and a few other things, but the Seahawks played well on all 3 fronts last night. Broncos....well....uhhh.....

I enjoyed watching a football team that were just clicking like a fined tuned machine.

I really think the NFC Championship game a few weeks ago between the Seahawks and the 49ers was the game between the two best teams in the NFL. Broncos need to use a few draft picks this year for defense.

Garth

Seattle's defense is everything it is hyped to be plus a bucket of wings. Carroll's entire program is built around a dominating physical defense and using the offense to finish. Seattle has created the template that a lot of other teams will be trying to replicate in this years draft. I expect defensive players to be at a premium in this coming draft with big, fast, physical DB's being highly sought after.

Denver didn't just suck, they were overwhelmed by a smothering, fast, and physical defense the likes of which they haven't faced all year. It was a great year for our team and redemption for the travesty that was called Super Bowl XL. Larceny at its finest.

Go Hawks.

Going into the Superb Owl the majority of the national media reporting and giving analysis on the game, and the vast majority of the countries fans had seen very few Seattle games. This was backed up simply by looking at analyst picks and comments from the Manning is king fanboy base. I've followed this team since 1983. I read everything about this team that I can get my hands on. I get it. This team is for real. The evidence is out there, you just refuse to see it.

You may not want to believe that defenses win championships, but I'm going to tell you that defenses DO win Championships. And that is exactly what happened in this game. Denver showed up, they just couldn't or weren't able to match the physical play of Seattle. Denver isn't built for it, and Manning can't survive in the pocket against a team like Seattle and he damn sure can't run.

Nuff said, I will just leave you with a little ditty from Peter King of SI because the Superb Owl is over and I'm looking forward to next year:

The analysis of this Super Bowl will center, rightfully, on a voracious defense. This was without a doubt one of the best defensive performances in Super Bowl history. This is one game in which stats lie. Peyton Manning set a Super Bowl record with 34 completions, and he threw for a respectable 280 yards.

But Manning managed only 51 passing yards in the first 26 minutes of the game, and by then it was over. Seattle led 22-0 by that point.

Think of what an incredible defensive performance this was. In the 94-year history of the NFL, Denver’s 606 points this season were the most ever. But on a night when weather was borderline balmy for New Jersey in February, the conditions were no excuse. And all Manning could do was manage some garbage yards late when half of America had turned the game off. In my 30 seasons covering the NFL, I can remember only three defensive performances that compare: the Bears’ stifling 46-10 rout of the Patriots in Super Bowl XX, Baltimore’s 34-7 beat down of the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV, and the Giants shocking New England—at that point the highest-scoring team in any single season—17-14 in Super Bowl XLII.

And Mr. King had predicted...Denver over Seattle (24 - 21, I believe). I had it: Seattle 31, Denver 17 in the two weeks leading up to the "Big Game." My brother called it: Seattle 40, Denver 10. Guess we both better call SI for a job interview, as any thoughtful and careful analysis would have shown Seattle to be the favorite. Just never expected such a shellacking.

As some writer described the 1986 Super Bowl victory of the Bears over the Pat's " the defense treated the opposing team's offense to a mugging that was both cruel and relentless." That about says it.

Cheers, Tuica ( following the 'Hawks since '76)

Defense is huge. As well as offense. I know my Giants are coming back with vengeance this year! They have both if they remember how work as a unit. That is what matters most.

Brown's are in a building year, next year we could go all.........the.........way :)

Yeah, my point in showing that article was that Peter King gave Seattle props for what he had seen in the game. Which was a defensive showcase the like of which Denver hasn't seen all year. As I said before the Superb Owl in this thread, you put Denver in the NFC and they are a top 3 or 4 team at best simply based on the physicality of NFC defenses. After seeing the extent of the beat down, I would probably revise that to top 5 or 6. They do have a solid run defense and some good receivers and a decent offensive line. They need a QB who doesn't have lead feet with a fresher arm. 20 Million is a lot of cap space for someone who cant see it through to the end. That money could be getter spent on a deeper defense.

I think somewhere in the 60-70% range of analysts took Denver and more than would like to now admit predicted an offensive beat down by Denver. The site that had the most analysts picking Seattle? NFL.com, with l believe 11 of 14 picking Seattle with one guy predicting 38-12, which everyone called him an idiot for predicting.

Seattle right now is the youngest team in the NFL based on average age. Carroll and Schneider have done amazing things in the draft and FA over the last four years. From here it just gets better. Next year they will be faster, bigger, deeper, and more experienced and still play the same physical style of Defense. A lot of teams want to be where Seattle is right now and have the talent that we do.

I'm liking what I see.

Wow! . Seahawks defense was incredible but the Broncos on the other hand. . . . I was blown away in the 3rd quarter, within 12 seconds the Seahawks had possession again and ran it 86 yards for a TD. Well played, Seahawks! I was rootin' for the Broncos but oh well. . . Maybe next year? :D I am a little sad that I will not be watching anymore football though :( Super Bowl was a sad day for me.

Boring game, almost a comedy of errors. Must have been something in the water in the hotel, because Denver didn't show up for the big game. Kudos to Seattle, but I think this was one of those 'Any Given Sunday' events; any team halfway capable in the NFL could have beaten the Broncos that day.

Me thinks that the next Superbowl champ will probably come from the NFC west again next season. Doesnt get much more smash mouth than that these days. Sure they may not set any scoring records but they will hit hard and ask for more every game.

Garth

It was funny watching the commentators change their tune during the game. For the last two weeks it was "Record breaking offense". "Offense, offense, offense". After about the first quarter it was "Seattle has been doing this all year!" "Smothering defense". Those commentators talk out of more sides of their mouth than a politician.
It is really simple. Denver did show up on Sunday. And Payton Manning was himself. I've always thought Payton is a great decision maker, but not really a pure passer. Like the Denver coach said after the game, "We just ran into a buzz saw!"
I'm a Seahawks fan, but even I have to say. They really out did themselves on Sunday. I would have given Russell Wilson MVP, just because of how cool he played the game. The little guy really has his head about him. But I see why Malcolm Smith was given MVP also. So many Seahawks played well, MVP could have gone to most anyone.
A great year for this old fan. GO SEAHAWKS!!!

I thought the MVP should have gone to Kam Chancellor!!! The most aggressive and hardest hitting player in the league hands down. Go Hokies!!!

If you're a Seattle fan and haven't seen it yet, watch the video series called Rain City Redemption. Kid started it late 2012 to chronicle the team acquiring Pete Carroll and John Schneider, and goes through the teams changes up to this year. Very well done video series. I don't know what crystal ball this kid was looking in to when he decided to make it, but he was a visionary.

Currently only 4 parts out that goes up to the 2013 season. He still has to do the videos for 2013 & now the Superb Owl. Awesome stuff and ground breaking if you're a Hawks fan.

Go Hawks.

Was nice to see a linebacker get the MVP. Offensive nod? Harvin perhaps. Always tough to repeat next year, but let's hope there, Isheldon. My brother's family lives in Marysville, and all will be at the parade today - you?...Cheers.
