Nice features on new A G Russell Ti Framelock..

I have a few comments,
1. Why would anyone post this in the CRK forums? Just to cause Chris or Ann pain? what a jerk.

2. I am sorry that my friend Harry does not know that Kershaw has the most "State of the Art" operation in this country and in my opinion were the only folks who could make the knife as well as I wanted it made. It took several tries but they finally got it like I wanted it.

3.Kershaw agreed to make 1,000 and have reduced that to 6xx so I am not worried about selling them all. If Kershaw does not agree to make more of them I will have to move the work to Taiwan or China.

4. I looked for the best features for the insides of the knife and found them. I never need help with the lines of a knife and any one who looks at my knife and sees someone else's design, in my opinion needs eyeglasses.

Kershaw tells me that they did not make OEM knives but would for me, I am truly proud of that and hope that they will continue to do so, this design or others.

Is it not funny, the folks who for what ever reason hate me just bring out more and more people who will stand up for me. Thanks to you all.

Very nicely said, AG. I hope you sell out of the first run of these knives and can continue what sounds like a mutually beneficial relationship with Kershaw. That way, when I'm finally able to afford knives in this price range again, I'll be able to buy one.

As I stated earlier, A.G. was very demanding with his expectations on this piece, and yes he did reject our first few tries. We all met at the SHOTshow (first meeting of the show), and I was delighted to see his reaction to the latest proto's. We finalized some small details, and we will be off to production.

Glad we got it dialed in for you A.G.

As to Harry, I think he knows, but he used a thread and words as a platform to disguise his true intentions. I believe we'll all get over it. :)

OEM's are not our business, as both Kershaw and ZT keep us very busy. Certainly this is one of the most challenging piece we've done.

We have a close relationship with A.G., and due to that relationship we agreed to the project. A.G. and his organization are our valued customer of whom we have tremendous respect for. I'm proud to be associated with the knife, and appreciate the fine words A.G. Thank you!

I have purchased most of my knives from A.G. Russell. Great company, great warranty and they do right by our service men and women. I hope to buy an Acies this year.

Have to ask a question, can anyone custom maker, production or anyone in between make a folder with solid titanium slabs on both sides and it not be called a sebenza copy? I'm just asking because their sure does seem to be a lot of experts on here who can render these kinds of absolute decisions.

In some cases, any gray colored knife (titanium, zinc phosphate, or paint) that has a single blade frame lock assembly and a pocket clip can easily be identified as a Sebenza by some.

The blade shape (edge on one side, spine on the other, point at one end and attaches to the knife on the other) screams a copy.

In the gun store a few months ago the lady ( usually quited knowledgeable about knives BTW ) was knocked over by my Drifter. At very first glance, she thought she had a fellow CRK devotee, and whipped out her Seb to show me she was a club member. She was embarrassed and disappointed to see that the little gray knife was just that, a little gray frame lock knife.

Just a few seconds of observation would have shown the differences right away. Then of course, she was angry. She had been fooled. By whom?

I thought it was classy of A.G. to give credit to his inspirations when showing this knife, and of all people, I cannot imagine anyone that needs to copy the work of others less. His successes stand on their own, and have for decades.

As I sit and look at the knives being made today, some custom, some production, it is EASY to see the heavy influences that inspired the designs, but usually no credit is given. Good on A.G. for that one as he gladly did it up front, and it was almost as praise. Class.

Oddly, in this same thread, one of the consistently best knife makers around is derided for their inability to make a good knife. I was a little surprised at that until the poster admitted he had not paid attention to the Kershaw line over the years, had no first hand/in hand experience with the product line, and in essence was just blowing bad gas around. It was his opinion, but bad gas just the same.

The grandfather of a buddy of mine used to say "remember to be as loud when you are wrong as you are when you are right. That way everyone will know where you stand".

Mission accomplished.

Robert

(Eyeballing my $17 Drifter and amused that any little gray knife is an obvious ripoff of a Sebbie....)

When I found this thread I was just wondering if someone had actually touched and tried one. It is probably too expensive for my wallet, but it seemed to have a lot of sophisticated thought and technology behind it.

Well the first shipment came in Friday after I left the office. Today all orders are being processed and filled as fast as we can get the knives checked.

I hope that those of you who ordered this knife will report on them to the members here.

Hi folks -

For what it's worth, to me the knife became more attractive when I found out it was made by Kershaw.

The AG Russell site shows them as unavailable, but I'll keep watching.

Correction - I ordered one.

best regards -

I just found out that I was wrong, they had not checked them until today and they have only now checked enough to fill all of the orders. They will go out this afternoon or first thing in the morning.

Yes, please do. I'm interested in reading some field reports after they've been handled and used. This and an Umnumzaan are battling for my pocketbook.

I have now designed a 3.9 inch Frame Lock with a 2.95 inch blade. I can make this in the U. S. with ZDP at about $350 or I can go the the Orient and make it with SG-2 a powder metal like VG-10 at 59-61 Rc for about $150. Will you really pay over twice for U.S. made?

I wouldn't. But then I'm not FROM the US.

The oriental version sounds much better to me.

How about an oriental version with ZDP? If that were an option I'd go for that I think.

I am the OP and I can assure you there was never any malice intended
toward anyone. I have always had the deepest respect for both CRK and
AG Russell as cutlers of the highest quality production working knives,
among many others.

I obviously origanally posted this in the wrong forum, nothing more.
I often read and post about new ideas and models in different forums
and information has always been received and given in a positive manner.

I, like many others work in an environment where having the best tools
always available by your side can literally be the difference between life
and death for my crew and I. There is always a better and safer way,
as can be witnessed by innovations in many tools just in the last decade.

I wish AG Russell the very best in his new venture, but can do without
the disheartening comments.

Regards, -Ron Buelow

Ron, I am sorry! I thought it had been done on purpose, I am glad to hear that it was not.
