Nice Night Here

Just got back from a night hike. Went out the front door and saw a huge glow. Walked down the road and the trailer down the road was on fire. One of my neighbors came by and said he'd called the fire dept.

The trailer was inhabited by my ex neighbor till he went to jail for running a meth lab out of it. Then his wife lived there for a while but she connected the toilet back up and the Health Dept said she had to move if she didn't go back to the outhouse so either she moved or she went to jail because she was awaiting trial on state charges. My neighbor was charged by the feds.

Anyway the trailer set empty till the local alcoholic broke in and started living there but he seemed to have been gone because no signs of life for around 10 days when I passed by.

So somebody HAD to torch it. The power was off. The alcoholic guys trailer he had before down the road also went up. I think he was cooking too.

Anyway I talked with my neighbors and then took a 2 mile hike in the woods. It was about 60 degrees and clear and a strong wind blowing. I sat in the field on the ridge and watched the stars and listened to the wind blow. Would have loved to just crawl up there and sleep. Might do it sometime. Cut down over into my hollow and came in the back door of the barn to feed the animals and go back here. Nice night.

Carried my Koster Bushcraft but spotted a couple big blowdowns over the path running up my hollow. More fun chopping.;)

Sounds like a nice night HD. Sunday it was around 65 and the girls and I cut up some branches downed from an ice strom from a few weeks ago. Today the temp dropped 35 degrees and iced alittle more and tomoorw expecting 5 to 10 inches of slett, snow, and freezing rain. Oh well if you down like the weather in the Ozarks wait awhile it will change. Pat

HD,

That meth stuff is just bad news. The company I own recently sponsored a training session for law enforcement and schools on meth lab awareness. We got the DEA clandestine labs coordinator to come out and speak, he said that it is a rural drug, often cheaper in the sticks than in urban areas, very destructive, very bad for families....

There's a lot of it around here. That and prescription drug abuse, which kills even more people.

They found this guy passed out on the road in the southern part of the county and turned out he was over come by some ammonia he was stealing for a meth lab.

A funny story: I got one of those nice K&M Match safes with the compass:thumbup: So I try to find some strike anywhere matches for it and I'm going from store to store and nobody has them and they are all looking funny at me.

I tell my wife this and she said she had some class about it and they use the tips of the matches somehow in the process so no stores around here have them. They probably all thought I was a clandestine chemist:o Finally a friend on KF sent me some but I guess it's such a problem here the stores don't even stock those matches:confused:

The main problem I have noticed with the drug is 1 it causes a lot of domestic fighting. 2 it makes people stay up really late and play loud music:rolleyes: In fact the way my neighbor got popped was he got into a fight with his wife, she called the man and said he had a gun and he was a convicted felon for attempted murder and so the police searched his place. No gun but they found a lot of meth making stuff so he went to jail:thumbup:

That's actually how I got my one big Pyrenees dog. He showed up all cut up after some people tortured him to send a message to his owner. We treated him and then later after his owner had him back she had to move and gave him to us.

aaahhhh... poor dog.... what a bummer.... somebody would get it good, if they ever did anything like that to my dog... there is a lot of meth junkies here in our area too... that crap is horrible.. it'll eat you alive...:thumbdn: my older brother was addicted to speed(meth) for like 12 years or something.... it sucked...

BTW.. it's been really nice over here... i have been wearing shorts and a t-shirt allday....:D

Stop it already with your nice weather reports !!!! :D:D:D We are frezzing our tails off here in the Ozarks! 70 degree weather on sunday, freezing cold tonight with ice and snow:grumpy:... I am SOOOOO ready for spring !

I'll tell you what.

Whoever would cut a dog like that deserves to be shot. I hope they get some karma back one day for that.

Unbelievable.

That was the least of his injuries. He had a hole right by his anus you coulda put your thumb in.

I thought it was a bullet wound. We were just disinfecting them and keeping him full of antibiotics because he wasn't our dog.

When the lady found him the federal marshalls paid to have him stitched up and they said no bullets in him so I assume somebody shot him with a bow or something. He had weed eater string wrapped around his tail so maybe his face was done with a weed eater:barf:

He's a cool old gent. 11 yrs old. That's ancient for a Pyr. I bring him hamburgers on my way home every evening and he gets excited and jumps with joy:D:thumbup:

HD,

You sir are indeed a great person for taking care of this dog after what he has been through. One day I would like to shake your hand and say thank you.

I used to have one of those dogs. He loved the snow and cold weather we have here! Best dog I ever had. Crazy shedder though...one thing I don't miss...I agree with the others here, hope that idiot who did the damage to yours gets it someday.

Briggz,

You're right, HD is a good guy. Probably stating the obvious, but in my experience guys who do stuff like that are the same as men that abuse women and children, they tend to be cowards....

Wow, sounds like you have some crazy neighbors HD! But sound slike a nice night hike for sure. I love how my regular trails look and sound so different at night, very peaceful.

The lady wasn't sure who exactly was responsible but we think it may have been the guy who I mentioned who went to jail. If so he's somebodys bitch now:thumbup:;)

My thoughts exactly. Whoever dares harm my dog... well, I'll better shut up now before I get banned. Let's just say I was born more than 1000 years too late. You get the idea.

It's good to know the poor pup has a good life now. Makes my day!

It's raining today and cooler:rolleyes: Does that help;)

The thing with meth is that it actually fries the brain as well and that damage can never be undone. They only have to try it once and they are addicted. It eventually turns them into nothing more than zombies which are then just a drain on society supported by tax payers such as us !!!

I had put what should be done to people who harm mans best friend but finished up editing it.....people here know my love of dogs, so I guess you know what I'd do !!!
