Ninjas vs Pirates

Global warming is the result of the declining number of pirates. If that's the case I'll have to vote pirates.

;)

Frank

I voted ninja. Pirates were drunk most of the time; undisciplined sots. They were indecisive, too, voting on most everything. You can't accomplish great things that way- that's why there are no more pirates. I think they showed poor value judgement as well, for the most part.

Ninjas at least took their business seriously. That whole culture is alien to us but you have to admire dedication to craft.

It comes down to taking your work seriously. You could hire a ninja to, say, fix your car but would you trust a pirate to do a good job?
Of course not.

Being a professional mariner I thought I would point out there are actually lots of pirates currently operating in the Amazon, off the coasts of Nigeria, Somalia and the Malacca Straits just to name a few. They traded in the cocked hats, parrots and tall ships for AK-47s, fast power boats and RPGs.

It used to be you gave them the cash in the Captain's safe and whatever they could lug off of the ship and they didn't really hurt anyone. Lately, the trend has been for them to murder the crew outright, sell off the cargo to the black market then forge new paperwork for the ship and sell it too.

On that account I voted for the pirates. It's hard to beat the combination of low morals and modern firepower.;)

Well, yeah. It would be a lot more fun to BE a pirate. The ninja gig seems like too much hard work.

i have a contingency plan if my music career doesn't work out. it's a pirate's life on a ship i call the St. Augustine. i'm gonna pick up some friends from Alexandria and we'll live free in the Mediterranean, most of the time. part of the fantasy includes my BGRS, kinda like my captain's sword.

Arrrhhh! Avast all this ninja talk Mateys,

we be pirates here, still follerin the pirates code, on the good ship 'Black Duck'.
we's even haves our own day, talk like a pirate day on september 19th, them ninjas ain't got ther own day!

besides which they be mean sneaky underhanded scoundrels who skulk around and stabs ye in the back or poisons ye when ye least expects it, leastwise we pirates sail right up under the jolly roger an' ye knows up front we's about ter slit yer gizzard, tho we'd rather ye just surrender yer goods and, aside from a bit of rape and pillage, we'd be happy ter lets ye all go if'n ye didn't want ter join us. we be always recruitin. we be's equal opportunity employers, an do not discrimminalate based on race, religion, color, creed or national origin. we even takes wimmin and democrats (except hillary).

some of the scoundrelly ninjas have been murderin' wimmin & children out in SE asia and makin' believes they is pirates ter gives us a bad name, but we knows better an' we be angry, ye don't wanner sees us when we's angry....

Actually, some ninjas WERE pirates. One of our schools was influenced by a period of naval warfare. Some of the methods and weapons come from fighting aboard ship. (small anchors used as weapons, various other tools, also walking methods for wet and rolling decks.)

I'm so torn here:( While ninjas are totally sweet and flip out and kill people all of the time*, pirates lead a tempting lifestyle.

While they lack electric guitar wailing skills (as well as a physical "impressivness" monopolized by the ninja)*, I'm going to have to side with the pirates. I'm lazy. Training and dedicating your life to the art of stealth is a fine and noble thing. However, I would rather party all day, and then shoot my foe in the stomach when he was drunk.

And with a peg leg and a hook for a hand you have so many more places to conceal weapons. Small cannon in the peg leg. You could fire daggers from your hook hand. On the other hand (no pun intended) you can't even see ninjas.

I think the location and nature of the battle would be very important, but I've gotta go with the ninjas. I mean, if a ship full of Ninjas went against a ship full of pirates, the ninjas would be done for. But if the Ninjas could locate the pirates at port or somehow boarded their ship covertly (which would clearly be no problem for ninjas--they are, after all, possessing of invisibility and crazy flipping-out skills), the pirates would all be dead before they even knew there was trouble. And since Ninjas probably wouldn't take a ship after pirates anyhow (too obvious), I have to give this one to the ninjas.

Arr Mateys! I'd name my ship the 'Carrie Nation', and rob the pirates. The pirates will have selected the good stuff already, and who's going to arrest me?? Shucks, some government might pay a bounty for a sackful of pirate heads (after I've sold off the re-looted loot, of course). On second thought, I wonder how many corsairs in the old days had the same idea...

THAT is offesive! those are fightin words! i'm gonna have to call you out on this one and challenge you to game of drunken pirate high card. loser moves to the bottom of the atlantic.

i drew a 99 of hearts. sucks for you.

Ninja's are too uptight and into it for someone else. Pyrates are in it for the spirit of adventure, the right to get rat-assed, free the odd piece of eight and chase buxom wenches.
"Vociferous Carmichael" sails at dawn. Be there!

If you understand martial arts, and you look into ninjitsu, you'd understand why ninjas are blatantly better than pirates. Go team ninja.

Well, the pirates are kicking butt over at convinceme.net. Must be more pirates ou there.
