No Bucks in WalMart?

I wonder how the 'basic', ie, no cost, nylon sheath from the Buck Custom Shop is compared to the bp-ed 110s' sheath? Bet it's the same! No matter - I carry my 110s as I do other 'pocket knives' - in my pocket. I have a bunch of 110 sheaths on a cabinet shelf. The now-gone 419 Kalinga Pro in S30V - sheathed - goes in my pocket, too... big pockets!

Yeah, the 110s & 119s know-not where they are bound when they are made. BTW, The Bass Pro Shops have a specialty 110 made for them of CPM154 - not 154CM. Both are good steels - but they aren't the same. The BCS only uses S30V & 420HC now, so BPS is the only way to get that steel in a 110.

I'll let you know about the free nylon sheath when I get it from the custom shop. I started to order one of the 110's from BP, but then I decided why not get another one from the custom shop instead for the same money. I decided to just take the no charge sheath because I have so many leather one's laying aroung already.

A couple of years back, I got the 'base' 110 from BCS - with nickel silver bolsters and orange Fiji wood - with the then-available 'upgrade' steel - BG-42. It was $84 - and now they are out of BG-42! I need to get a basic S30V 110... what's Pete's extension?

You'll never see these 110's at WallyWorld!

L-R: BG-42, NS bolsters, orange Fiji wood; BG-42, NS bolsters, fg/jigged water buffalo; BG-42, NS bolsters, G10/Micarta; teardrop Damascus, NS bolsters, flaming Koa wood; BPS CPM154; Cabela's S30V AG110. Get what you can/when you can from the BCS.

Good, very good, choices made there Stainz.

What is the OAK like, I wonder, from the Buck Custom Shop? Is it well stabilized and tight grained? I need it to last for at least 100 years (wife's a nurse so I know that I can make it despite the ever so few years of impure thoughts).

I, using the custom shop's procedure for ordering a knife, put together a: S30V blade, oak scales, finger grooves, nickel silver bolsters, nylon sheath combo that looks very sweet to me on my computer's screen and its $95 delivered. I sure would like to deep six the nail notch/nic (I don't need it, particularly with the finger grooves) and I wonder if this can be accomplished when ordering from the custom shop...

PS: How did you get the knives to stick to the cabin walls like that?

oregon, who is typing this from his shotgun shack

I've never heard of any functional problems or complaints on Buck slabs, oak or any other.

The grain, of course, varies.....and what you get may be nicer or not so nice as the pictures.

You're stuck with the nail notch......it's not really a "Custom" custom shop.

:)

When I ordered a BCKS Custom with the nylon sheath last year, it was the same sheath as the one with the Wally World Founders Edition knife.

"PS: How did you get the knives to stick to the cabin walls like that?"

Decking (floor) is my guess.

Stainz, Nice half dozen set of 110's you have . The jigger Buffalo horn and nickle silver frame is my favorite . DM

I didn't realize there was something different then the Nylon Cordura?
Here's a pic of the sheath that came with my Wal*Mart 110 about
a month ago. It is exactly the same as the one that came with the
110 I got at Dick's, except the snap on this one is flat black, and the
snap on the one from Dick's was gloss black.

I read somewhere the 110 and 119 are made of different steels depending on where it's sold at? Example being Walmart, Basspro, and some other store each having different steels for the blades and the price/packaging being different?

Anyone know?

All the same steel no matter where sold. Cabela's and Bass
Prp both have exclusive lines that have different blade materials, however those have different part #s.

Went to Sports Authority this weekend and picked up a 110 with a leather sheath for 34.97 -20% so works out to 27.98 ..less than wally world (29.97 here)with a nylon sheath.

I picked up a 110 folder yesterday, no sheath for $24.88 and tax. I wanted a leather sheath anyway. In a Wally world in Wichita Falls TX
