No communication from JJB Knives!!

ok, so at what point (of having no knife in the mail, and no emails, phone calls, etc) do you go after someone? Does anyone know if you're supposed to talk to the postal inspectors by a certain time, and should you do postal before local authorities? Somethings (like paypal) require that you do inquiries one at a time, is this similar?

I would say it is time to start looking into options now. Postal inspector if paid/shipped by USPS would be good.

Sorry to hear this happened to you.

Right about now would be a good time to start looking into what kind of recourse you have. Hopefully things will still work out, but it isn't looking good.

meeshi_ma. . . .check your e-mail (RE: fourth visit to jjb knives house). . . . .

To those watching or interested. . . .

meeshi_ma has yet to receive the knife. So, it's evident that jjb knives hasn't completed his end of the trade.

There is a possiblity that the parcel sent to meeshi_ma is lost, as is the possibility that jjb knives is on vacation or something has happened to him.

For whatever reason, jjb knives has stopped all communication with meeshi_ma.

Way too many "what if's !"

I've made four visits to his house and there are a few details that I'll leave out for now (meeshi_ma is fully aware of).

I highly suggest that people avoid dealing with jjb knives (his name is John Butler and lives in Macon, GA). At least until his transaction with meeshi_ma is cleared up.

Thanks for going by again GigOne. I talked to the postal inspectors yesterday and they said that it was actually quicker to mail in a hard copy of my complaint rather than the internet form. That way I can also print out and include copies of all emails sent/received.

I'll continue to post as I hear new developments or if I suddenly receive a Sebenza in a little box postmarked 2 and a half weeks ago.

I hate to see things like this happen!! I hope you get your knife!! I am very happy that GigOne is helping you out. The forum members are awesome for helping each other out around here!!

Props to GigOne - above and beyond the call for a Bro forumite. Way to go, Gig.

Talking to and getting to know GigOne has been the only good part about this. Kind of a mixed blessing - lost some knives, but I had my faith in people reaffirmed. Plus I know that at least some people in Georgia are good! Seriously, he's done far more than I could have asked him to, and even though we haven't been able to find JJB Knives, its not been for lack of trying.

Kind of a learning experience for me in regards to trading as well. Whenever I get enough stuff together to have a decent trade again, I'll know some of the things to watch out for.

Brief update on situation: I've been in contact with the Macon Police, and they're going to try to visit John, we'll see what happens there. If that doesn't pan out, I'll turn in the mail fraud stuff to the postal inspectors early next week. They'll probably be able to do the most, but they were reluctant with so little time having gone by. By next week they should be able to start their investigation as well.

Pfffft. . . .I just looked at my "knife-knut" contract and there is a clause that states, "Ya gotta help other knife-knuts" out." :D

My pleasure to assist or make attempts.

It's a crying shame that the situation had to go this far ! A black eye on us Joe-Ja folks. :barf:

Alright, I finally thought to contact the various utilities in Macon and apparently service is not even connected to that address. They wouldn't tell me how long it had been off, but I passed the information on the Macon City PD. We'll see if they can do anything there. Now I just need to finish filling out these postal forms so the inspectors can go get him!

GigOne,

It's good to see someone go to such an effort to help a fellow compadre. It's good deeds like this that strengthen the bonds on this site.
