This post is more for me than you. Something about seeing my own written words...

I'm done with buying knives that I can't legally carry. I can't rationalize having (example) $700 tied to up in a custom D/A OTF. It would be better used buying silver bullion or cases of MREs.

Rant over.

(Anyone else feel the same?)

I rationalize that I can legally carry them somewhere. Nothing compared to a $700 custom, but I have too many fixed blades I can't carry as much as I'd like.

I do know exactly what you mean.

Sturubu makes a good point...the right thing to do is move to another state, not abandon the knives :D

Yep, if I cannot or won't carry it I don't buy them. If I do I usually sell em off.

I like my state knife laws. I can conceal carry a folder of any size.

I came to the same conclusion CM. We live in the same state and it always bothered me walking out with my wife to the local El Torito with an auto in my pocket. This year I sold them all and put the funds into other knives.

Balisongs and switchblades are the main knives I collect.

What's funny is I was just out in Monterey CA living and bartending on the beach. Now I'm back in FL I can have those knives. But law enforcement still hate them. They key is to never give them any reason to search me to begin with. Even though I can legally carry I'm scared they will still take it and never give it back.

And I rationalize this by telling myself that a waved folder is faster than a bali/auto... period.

I had to do the same thing Charlie Mike. If I had stupid money maybe it wouldn't matter so much but I don't and won't any time in the near future. After three years of unusually bad luck I got to the point I was looking at knives and thinking "man, I wish I never bought that". Now I'm pretty much not buying unless it is something that is practical, affordable and time sensitive.

Yes I want one but I can't carry it around either, hey Charlie Mike I see you're from fresno, I live in kerman. Maybe we can meet up and talk or trade knives sometime?

Sure thing!

I completely agree. Have a couple balis I got when I was stationed in places I can have them. Then when I got stationed here, they happened to be in with my belongings. Unfortunately I now have to only play with them in the house. Pretty stupid really.

I think no matter where you live if you can get a Concealed Carry Permit you should be able to carry an auto or whatever other knife you want. I don't see why its so bad to have an auto knife on you if you are allowed to have a semi auto in your waste band

CM did you carry an auto at any time while you served?

I don't ever feel the need to carry one but miss having one in my possession. I wish they would change the laws about owning auto's. Especially when some of my non auto's can be deployed faster than an auto, especially a with a wave.

I carried a Microtech D/A Socom while deployed.
