I just received my small Sebenza 21 directly from CRK. I ordered it directly from his shop a few weeks ago because I wanted a silver thumb stud and didn't want to pay extra to have it switched later.

So I get the knife fully expecting S35VN (which it had), and also expecting the "Idaho Made" stamp. But to my surprise...no stamp!

It just came from CRK, so shouldn't it have stamp on it? Not that I mind, I'm actually kind of glad.

So did they discontinue the stamp?

My guess is that they are still using up old inventory of small sebenza slabs.

I think this is probably the case, I saw a few 21s at my friends shop a while back and 2 of the 3 smalls were "IM" free while the large Sebenzas all had the engraving.

If this is true, which I doubt, I wonder if everyone is going to start going after the "Idaho Made" marked knives thinking they might be collectors items.

All this fuss reminds me of Bernard Levine's advice: Read the knife, not the story. :p

I ordered a small sebenza with bloodwood inlays directly from CRK in February and received it in mid-April. It has a birthdate of March 23, 2011 and I was disappointed that it didn't have the Idaho Made stamp because I specifically requested one when I spoke with Heather.

I personally like the "Idaho Made" and support Chris's reasoning behind it. Hopefully he will stick with it. I would imagine they are using up scales and some of the ones made was during the transition. I just purchased a Wilson Combat Star-Tac Umnumzaan and it has the "Idaho Made" on it. Cant wait till it arrives early next week. Will post pics of my 3 zaan's when it arrives.

If you check the stamp on the inside of the handles, I'm betting you'll find either an A10 or B10 designation on the lock side, indicating the slab was made before the "Idaho Made" stamp came out.

You're right, mine has A10 stamped on the handles, which I believe means first quarter of 2010. I just wish CRK would use up their old stock first and not put out new knives with different handles or blade steel. They also did this with S30v and S35v blades.

my 30th march 11 Ummi is stamped Idaho Made, doesn't bother me actually but it also does not disturb or look bad
to me it's ok to have it

The stamp looks a little better on the Umnumzaan IMO than on the Sebenza

My large Tanto (born in march) sports the "Idaho Made" and both scales have the B10 stamping.

It is probably old stock, and I believe the Idaho Made is here to stay. Chris Reeve did imply that there is a possibly that it may be re-designed.

I don't mind the "Idaho Made" stamp. It's alot smaller than people make it out to be in the threads here(imo), because everyone takes these huge, close up pics, amplifying the words. I'm American, and i love the fact that an immigrant from South Africa has enough pride in his country and state to put those words on his product....good for him!

In contrast....i love my Gayle Bradley, but im sure most know that it has the state outline of texas on it, and below on the blade has "taiwan"....now THAT sucks!

I'm pretty sure the stamp would have been received better had the layout been better. As it is, it seems upside down. Had they done it the same way they wrote Classic on the classic models, I'm sure it wouldn't make so many folks turn their nose up at it.

or in the same position as the CR logo but on the opposite side would look more in order.

I just figured I'd add that my large Insingo also has B10 slabs with the stamp.

This is an example of what happens when you type without thinking and quickly post to a forum.
I asked about getting the "Idaho Made" stamp in gold like CRK does the gold lettering on the annual sebenza's. I only assumed(yes, I know!) I was getting a knife with the Idaho Made stamp because I thought that all of the sebenza's were being made that way so I never specifically said give me an Idaho Made stamped sebenza.
I appologize Heather, you and CRK have provided great customer service in the several times I've called with questions and for information. I'm going to be ordering a large sebenza soon and will get my Idaho Made stamp then.

Too bad, looks like they are still coming out with the IM stamp on them............ :thumbdn:

I have not purchased a CRK knife since they changed to this stamp. I'll just hang on to the ones I have without the "Made in Chi.. I mean Idaho" stamp on them.
