No offense.......but I'm bored

Here's something you don't see everyday. It's my Dad's old Puma 3591. He gave it to me for Christmas last year. He said it was his knife as a boy, and he carried it all the way through the Scouts. (He's an Eagle Scout). This one's seen some use, but is still in pretty good shape. It has a gut hook, an awl, and a saw that fold out of the nice stag handle. Circa 1950 something. It has a pretty elaborate sheath. They don't make 'em like this anymore!

Nice older Puma Andy. The only Pumas i have are all post 1960's but i know from my Henckels collection that the German made knives that pre date the 1960s have an inspiring feel of the finest quality. I'd like to find an old Puma folder one day but they are rarely seen.

Thanks Roland! That old Puma is definitely well made. It's beefy and sturdy all around. The tang of the fixed blade goes all the way through the handle / slipjoint portion, and is nicely tapered. All of the other 3591s I've ever seen have had corkscrews instead of the awl. I think they made the change right around 1960 or so. I'll be passing this one down to my son some day.

I think my Dad has an old White Hunter that I'm going to try to talk him out of. I like old Pumas.

I bought this in an Army Surplus store in 1968. I didn't know what it was, it was cool looking and it must have been affordable. The markings state Edge Brand, Solingen, Germany and 420 on the opposite side. It's been awhile since I've researched it but, this is basically a reproduction Hitler Youth Knife. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler_Youth_knife

Friend of mine collects WWII stuff from all sides, and out of the edged items hitler youth knives are not easy to get...its easier to get a genuine gestapo issued skull ring than it is one of those (for a real one issued to an actual hitler youth). SS dagger is something I've been trailing for my collection but the cost is very prohibitive.

Here's a Turkish Jambiya I brought back from Sinop, Turkey in 1968. It dates to the early 20th century, and was restored by Erdogan Ozekes, one of the Ozekes knife-maker brothers.
