Yeah here on the forums.
There is an add below the top post and one at the bottom of the page.
Does anybody know what the deal is?...

There have always been ads there for me but don't they disappear for gold members?

What kinda ads are they? There was a couple days where they became "Spam" type ads but are now all back to knife/shooting/outdoor products.

Just taking a stab in the dark here, was it like the 13th-20th they became spam ads?

(I actually like spam... shhhhh!)

I just took a blind stab at the address... It's really anyone's game at this point.
You didn't just get it from Todd? He's got it!

It's when I use my Iphone...
Yeah, it only bugs me when I'm on my phone. The real estate on my screen is already at a premium that it makes it just that much worse.

Back in November, I got a Kabar BK9 off fleabay for $55 and shipping. It was listed as NIB/Buy it now. So I bought it. You can't not have a spare 9. :D

When it came in, it was a Kabar BK9 box. I opened it up and glanced at it to verify that it was a BK9 and new, with a sheath in good condition. I stuck it on a shelf until I got around to mod it the way I wanted.

Well I pulled it out today to start since I was iced in, I found that it was a pristine, never even scratched CAMILLUS BK9.

So now I'm in a quandary - do I go ahead and mod it or leave it as is. I can always get a newer Kabar to mod.

you people stop making copies of Beck knives :D

He's having an argument over this... I told him I didn't know who he was until he pm'd me.

If he says anything else, just tell him I said you were good.

Did anyone else realize that Nathan Fillion was in "Blast from the past" with Brendan Fraser.

Never seen the movie. Liked Firefly though. He seems pretty good in Castle too.

Depends. Are you going to use it anyway? If so, might as well mod it.

Gun store in town has a very nice Cammy BK9 just sitting on the counter like a frickin' paperweight. Tried to tell them what they had but the guy obviously didn't get it.

Camillus 9 you say?....
MOD IT, USE IT.
It's a cool knife made by a company that is no longer in buisiness.
It's a knife that was meant to be used....

I started a straight clip mod on a bk2 today. So far it looks good... Hopefully I don't screw this up!

If he doesn't care what it is, maybe he'll let it go for a song. Low-ball and see what he comes back with. Offer him $50. The worst that happens is he comes back with a really off the wall counter offer and you tell him, nope, that's too much and walk away. The best that happens is you get a 9 for cheap.

Definitely gonna get used. I guess I was really asking - do I leave it original and use it or mod it and use it? If I go ahead and mod it, I'll probably do it with a different end result than what I originally had in mind.

Here are the snow conditions about 2 hours north of where we live.

That would shut down Knoxville for a week, or until it melted. They're simply not equipped to deal with that here.

I want to catch a big catfish. That is all.

I'm told real men do it by reaching blindly into deep dark holes with their bare hands.

I won't post it but I'M pretty heated about the whole thing...

Don't sweat it.

I'm pretty adamant about IP rights when it comes to actual useful features, but you have to draw the line between respecting property and just letting someone bully you. Like others said... they're both made of steel and have a point and an edge...

I was told awhile back that there are very few new ideas in Knife making...

That's true. What really works, just plain works, and those designs have been around for a very long time. In fact, the majority of the only truly "new" blade designs of the last few decades are frankly pretty awful and sometimes worse than useless. (*ahemTOPSmumbleDorkOpsmutterStridercoffM-techsputterBrousmumble*)

Go look at an early Viking seax and tell me an American invented the Bowie knife... I saw a thousand-plus-year-old knapped flint knife in a museum in Green Bay that was inch-for-inch the exact size and profile of a Loveless drop-point hunter... make of that what you will ;)

I have Adblock as well. I don't see what the hell you're talking about with these so called ads. And, frankly, I wish you all would shut up about it. :D

No kidding! These kids with their fancy-schmancy phones nowadays are a bunch of whiners :D

I missed that last part. There was an ad blocking it...
See what I did there?:D

Just don't bring it to the PNW. That thing will snap right in half!!!

Yeah...on second thought, send it out here to Beckerwest. We'll use it in the chopping contest! There's a good chance we can "mod" it for you! Haha

You hit the nail on the head there James.
Sharp edged tools have been around from the dawn of time.

If I were to blindfold myself, take a piece of metal out to my garage, and put an edge on it: chances are someone has made the exact same tool at some point in time. That being said, I can totally appreciate how a maker would want to protect "thier" design and keep it for themselves as I'm sure they view it as part of thier identity.

But in a case like this with J.D., I find it humourous that the designer will basically attack and question J.D.'s character and honor. Especially when nobody even knows this guy and have never even seen his knives! Lol
