Tradewater, finally ordered one of the canvas/leather belts from Sears. Been talking about it forever it seems.

Yah, hang in there, Maus. It's interesting how those small moments of "whoops!" can change your life. Was thinking about that today as I was falling backwards into my (thankfully not on) grinder....I'll tell the whole story with some pics later when I'm at my keyboard. I'm OK, but I was lucky I didn't drop my noggin onto the concrete floor. Moment of not thinking things through.

No more drinking in the work shop Mike ;)

Glad you're ok! you're still +1 on me, you people with all your finger tips :D

I wish! I was standing on the shelving behind the grinder to grab my fishing rods for the upcoming gathering, holding on with my left hand. Was trying not to knock everything down, and my left hand just came off and I had no way to jump down 'cause there's too much shit in my basement (and I didn't want to take the time to clear a proper space so I could put the stepstool in there) and fell backwards into my grinder stand, knocking the whole thing over. Grinder's gonna need a new table and guard; I bent the shit out of both and the guard is what aligns the wheels so that'll be out of commission for a while. Scraped up my arm pretty good on the blast gate (dust collection) and the stand itself. Actually really lucky it wasn't worse. I managed to ride it down and not break my back or butt or skull. I would like to say it was my cat-like reflexes that saved me....but it was luck in a situation I shouldn't have been in in the first place.

You can see the fishing rods at the top:

Grinder damage (table is removed, it's toast):

Human toll (the worst of it, anyway):

I'm bummed the grinder is all stove up, but I guess I'm more glad that IT landed on the concrete and not me.

Sucks on the grinder damage, but like you said; better it then you! going back to what we said the other day about how long it takes us to heal as we get older. I'd much rather pay the cash for replacement parts on a grinder, then not be able to work for a week(s) while my back/head/ body healed from a bad fall.

Rest up, you'll have a full weekend ahead of you!

My wife just got home all shaken up, on the drive home a person in a car, 2 or 3 cars behind my wife, unloaded a gun into the car next to it. It'll be on the local news tonight or tomorrow im sure.

I know sometimes this stuff just sounds made up.... First the murder around the corner from our house, then the shooting right outside my wife's work, then the bullet through our bedroom window, now the shooting on the road... I wish it was made up. This city is horrible.
Damn.... Soon enough you'll be out in the sticks though. But... Damn....

Cant use my hand at all for 2 months other than my hourly exercises. So screwed! No motorcycles for 3 months! No way I will go that long. Not supposed to be doing any leather work for 2 months either...Nope. Going to give that a try in a few days I think...It Is really nice to wash this frito stinking hand though. :D
It'll suck in the meantime I'm sure, but you'll be back with a vengeance!

Never underestimate a lucky SOB. :D I'm glad that you're fine, even if it was at the unfortunate cost of the grinder. At least you're good to go for the upcoming gathering.

Seems to be tough, well made, holds a lot for its size and keeps everything easy to get to... If i ever lost mine, or even if it ever did/does break id order another immediately.

SOE micro wallet.

Thanks! I'll check them out. I was looking at Maxpeditions too.

Dang. Hope nothing else happens before you get outta there.

In other news, today some dump truck's tire flung a rock at the windshield of mom's car. It's got a nice big chunk missing with little "tentacles" going off the sides. Cracked windshield and dented door in less than 24 hours.

Nos, I like my little Chums surfshorts wallet for bumming around in the summer. My Saddleback front pocket ID wallet is a slick little wallet too. The SOE is up there on my list though.

Mmm, I like the price on that surfshorts wallet. Thanks!

Also, got to hold a Manix 2 XL today. Probably eventually gonna be my next folder.

Hmm, everyone else seems to be able to quote multiple messages... I got the error screen 3 times.

Thanks guys, im just glad my wife wasnt hurt... Just a couple more months and this will be but a memory.

Mauser, hope you heal quickly man!!

Mike, be careful brother, sucks about the grinder though.

This cracks me up, im in no hurry for this package, but this is just funny... SO it makes it through customs in 1 day... But then spends 3 days, so far, jumping around 3 zip codes within ~20 miles of my house, but not the correct zip code.. Yet. You know who NOT to call for directions?? USPS :D

Last night, after a way to long car drive, my mom and I got on the subject of cuss words. I said that there were different levels of bad words, code red, code yellow, code green, and code pink. Code pink is like when a 4 year old says "stupid" for the first time, but code green is really proper. So to give an example I said "Code Green would be somethin' like 'aw feces!'"

Mom almost wrecked the car due to violent fits of both giggles and snorts.
